BloodLoop, a new free to play 5v5 hero shooter developed by Swiss studio Ragnarok Games, is set to enter early access on June 23. The game will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC. BloodLoop combines tactical player-versus-player combat with optional blockchain features designed to enhance the experience without being intrusive. To mark the launch, the developers will host a play-to-airdrop event featuring a $15,000 prize pool.

Set in the year 2191, BloodLoop’s narrative centers on three factions engaged in a struggle for control of their home planet. To prevent the destruction of their world, the factions agree to settle their disputes within a virtual arena called the BloodLoop. This science fiction backdrop forms the foundation for the game’s fast-paced and strategic gameplay.

Players will have access to three game modes at launch. Team Deathmatch involves two teams of five players competing to eliminate the opposing squad. Energy War offers a more tactical, objective-based experience where teams focus on securing energy points. The Free-For-All mode is a solo competition where every player fights for survival. Each mode supports up to 10 players, with 5v5 being the main format for team-based combat.

Ragnarok Games Secured $4 Million in Funding

The game features five unique champions at launch, each with distinct abilities and playstyles. Among those revealed are Wendigo, a hunter skilled in tracking and precision, and Qatil, an agile rogue character. Another champion, Steve, provides comic relief while maintaining combat effectiveness. These characters contribute to varied tactical options for players.

BloodLoop will initially launch only on PC and will be distributed exclusively through the Epic Games Store. The developers have not specified how long the early access period will last. The game has been in development for over four years, and Ragnarok Games recently secured $4 million in seed funding to support its continued growth and refinement.

Prizes, Seasonal Leaderboard Pass and More

To coincide with the launch, BloodLoop will introduce a Seasonal Leaderboard Tournament, a play-to-airdrop event that rewards players based on their performance. The initial prize pool is set at $15,000. Players can participate by purchasing the Seasonal Leaderboard Pass, priced at $9.99 in $BLS, the game’s native token. Seventy-five percent of revenue generated from pass sales will be added to the prize pool. If participation reaches 15,000 players, the total prize fund could approach $130,000.

Leaderboard rankings are based on a player’s matchmaking rating (MMR), which changes according to in-game results. Rewards will be distributed gradually and will reach down to the top 20 percent of participants, providing incentives for a wide range of players. The team also announced that they were celebrating the official launch of BloodLoop on June 23rd with an exclusive Avalanche and OpenSea digital collectible. Users could claim the Artist Print to unlock these unique in-game skins.

Unobtrusive Web3 Features for Web2 Gamers

BloodLoop’s blockchain integration is designed to be optional and to complement the core gameplay rather than dominate it. Players interested in blockchain can obtain in-game items such as cosmetics and crafted gear that are tied to the blockchain, offering a form of true digital ownership.

However, the blockchain elements remain unobtrusive for those who choose not to engage with them. The game also includes a crafting system at launch, allowing players to gather rare in-game resources and create exclusive cosmetic items. This system provides additional ways for players to personalize their experience.

The first season of BloodLoop will last for one month and will emphasize effort, fair competition, and player progression. Future seasons are planned to expand the gameplay loop by introducing bounty missions, dynamic rewards, and new incentive mechanics. Additional champions, skins, and other content updates are expected in the coming months to keep the game evolving.

BloodLoop aims to establish itself within the free to play hero shooter genre by combining competitive tactical gameplay with optional web3 features and a rewards system that encourages player engagement. Its exclusive launch on the Epic Games Store and the planned seasonal events position it as a game to watch for both traditional and blockchain-interested players.
