The Avalanche Summit 2024, held in Argentina, stood out as a key gathering for enthusiasts and stakeholders in web3 gaming. The event featured a diverse mix of gaming panels, developer presentations, and networking opportunities, all set against the backdrop of an intriguing industrial venue. Described as a space reminiscent of an art gallery or a warehouse, the location added a unique atmosphere to the event.
The summit attracted a wide array of attendees, including gaming professionals, developers, content creators, and influencers, especially from Latin America (LatAm). While there were no groundbreaking announcements, the event successfully showcased Avalanche’s commitment to fostering a strong community culture, particularly within the gaming sector.
Latin America is rapidly becoming a global incubator for web3 applications, with developers in the region showing an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to solve pressing challenges using blockchain technology. Issues like inflation, financial instability, and limited access to traditional banking systems have driven demand for decentralized solutions, making the region a natural fit for blockchain growth.
Key Highlights From The Avalanche Summit in Argentina 2024
Argentina stands out as a major player in the Latin American blockchain landscape. The country has emerged as a hotspot for cryptocurrency activity, registering $85.4 billion in cryptocurrency transactions last year. A significant portion—around 60%—came from stablecoins like USDC and USDT, underscoring the growing demand for stable digital currencies as a hedge against inflation.
Argentina’s flourishing blockchain ecosystem is also reflected in its talent pool. In 2022, Argentina led Latin America in new programmers entering the field, recording a 41% year-over-year increase. This influx of developers is fueling the growth of blockchain startups, with companies like Decrypto, Koibanx, Lemon, and Ripio leading the way. The country's blockchain developers are not only meeting local demand but also creating solutions that have global applications.
Avalanche’s decision to open its doors to Latin American developers highlights a key belief: the strength of any blockchain platform lies in its community. Developers from Latin America are already building innovative, globally scalable solutions, and their inclusion in the Avalanche community will only enrich the broader ecosystem.

One of the highlights of the summit was the range of gaming-related discussions. Notable panels included one moderated by Coop (Andrew Cooper), featuring our very own Founder and CEO Omar, as well as speakers from Bloodloop and Stardust (Starnet). These discussions focused on the growing role of web3 in gaming and how Avalanche continues to support and drive innovation within this space.
Several gaming presentations took center stage as well. Off The Grid announced an exciting content update slated for November 1st, which was well-received by attendees. Another presentation came from MapleStory Universe, which also hosted a keynote session. The gaming area at the summit provided hands-on experiences for participants. Computers were set up, allowing attendees to play popular games such as Off The Grid, Bloodloop, and Shatterline, among others. There were even impromptu tournaments where winners received branded prizes.

Beyond the gaming focus, Avalanche’s emphasis on community building was evident throughout the summit. The event organizers made significant efforts to engage with both users and developers. This was apparent in the variety of co-sponsored side events, one of which included an esports event hosted by Krew Club, an esports team co-owned by football legends Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
Such side events helped create a more dynamic and inclusive atmosphere. Additionally, the summit featured a "creator house" where content creators had access to PCs and gaming setups, allowing them to collaborate and produce live content during the event. This initiative reflected Avalanche’s investment in nurturing relationships with influencers and creators.
Gaming on Avalanche
While no groundbreaking revelations were made, there were a few important announcements that excited attendees. Faraway, a game development company, revealed plans for launching a Layer 1 blockchain on Avalanche, signaling further expansion within the ecosystem. Additionally, it was announced that future Avalanche summits would adopt a regional focus, with the next summit scheduled to take place in London, this May 2025. This marks a shift from the previous model of a single annual event to hosting multiple summits each year, enhancing global reach and engagement.
Networking was a core part of the summit experience, with opportunities to meet LatAm content creators in person. Many of these creators had pre-existing relationships with the Avalanche ecosystem, while others were new connections made during the event. The overall atmosphere was described as fun and laid-back, with activities like foosball adding to the casual vibe. Good food and casual social interactions contributed to a welcoming environment, making the summit not only an informative experience but also an enjoyable one for attendees.
