Animoca Brands, known for its investments in various web3 game companies, is further cementing its presence in this rapidly expanding space. Notably, Animoca Brands had previously invested in Azarus, recognizing its potential early on.

The acquisition of Azarus was a natural business decision that attests to our belief in the transformative power of web3 technology. Azarus evokes the early days of The Sandbox, with that same energy and upside that makes it such an attractive proposition. Together, we look forward to redefining the streaming landscape, making it more interactive, rewarding, and aligned with the open metaverse.

Yat Siu, executive chairman of Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands

Founded in 2018, Azarus challenged the notion that "streams are not TV" by introducing Overlay Games, which allows streamers to incorporate advertising and games into their streams.

Azarus gained recognition for its video stream wallet and games that seamlessly layer over the video player, enabling instant audience engagement. The company's innovative approach has led to collaborations with leading brands and streamers, resulting in the distribution of over $2 million in rewards to more than 20 million unique players.

With the integration of Azarus into their streams, creators will be encouraged to explore the metaverse and bring their fans on digital journeys. This presents new opportunities for event hosts and offers fresh ways to reward fan engagement. Notably, other notable investors in Azarus include Kleiner Perkins and Galaxy Digital.

Azarus also offers a unique capability to engage and reward audiences while organically directing viewers to off-stream destinations, such as brand properties, e-commerce, and web2 and web3 games. Azarus brings a decentralized streaming platform to the table, enabling users to stream their gameplay and interact with viewers. What sets them apart is their use of blockchain-based tokens to facilitate rewards and incentives.

Joining forces with Animoca Brands amplifies our vision. We’re not just enhancing streaming; we’re pioneering a movement where every viewer becomes an active participant, and every stream becomes an immersive experience.
