Hive Invasion is a browser-based, pixel-art MMORPG developed by Pixcape Games. Set in a world where rogue AI and biological evolution have merged, players take on the role of Echo-9 units, a combination of machine and organic life, designed to fight the Hive. The game highlights player-driven ecosystems where choices shape the game's evolving world.
Gameplay and Features
Hive Invasion offers real-time combat set in procedurally generated biomes. Players explore these hazardous environments while dealing with enemies that adapt and change their attack patterns, making each biome a fresh challenge that demands flexible strategies.
Resource management is key to survival. Players must keep track of both Life and Fuel, since firing weapons drains Fuel, and running out forces the consumption of Life. This creates a constant need to balance offensive power with survival tactics.
As players progress, they can collect weapon upgrades and power-ups by exploring different zones and clearing areas. Each tower they encounter provides three power-up options, and players have up to three re-rolls per run to customize their loadout. Although power-ups reset after each run, the weapons collected during a run remain with the player, providing a sense of progression and growth.
Once specific zones are cleared, players face wave challenges, where enemies attack in large numbers. Success in these waves requires holding control over designated areas for a set time, adding another layer of strategy to the game’s progression.
NFTs and Blockchain
Pixcape is among the pioneering game projects building on the emerging Somnia blockchain. The team recently announced the upcoming Pixcape Genesis Pass NFTs, with a total supply of 2,222. These NFTs are anticipated to serve as VIP passes, granting holders exclusive benefits across the Pixcape ecosystem, including Hive Mind.
How to Get Started
Hive Invasion is currently in its early stages, and they recently have opened a playtest that serves as the main gateway to secure a whitelist spot for their upcoming Genesis Pass. To begin, head to the official playtest page and connect your wallet to gain access. Familiarize yourself with the controls: use the WASD or arrow keys for movement, spacebar or right-click to dash, and enter or spacebar to select. Explore the game’s biomes, manage your Life and Fuel, collect weapon upgrades, and take on wave challenges. Participating in the playtest also lets you earn badges, which improve your chances of getting whitelisted for the Genesis Pass.
