Gemhunters (Beramonium Chronicles: Gemhunters) is a web3 tactics game where players go head-to-head in a grid-based arena, competing to collect Gems while outmaneuvering their opponents. Each match is a mix of positioning, smart decision-making, and calculated aggression, all wrapped in a turn-based format. It’s built on Berachain and is part of the broader Beramonium universe. The game leans into short, strategic matches where energy management and team composition can make or break your chances of walking away with the win.

Gemhunters is set in the fractured world of Beramonium, a place shaped by the fallout of a once-powerful force called the Chain. This mystical energy source once kept the world balanced, but after it broke apart due to greed and misuse, it left behind fragments known as Gems. These shards now hold immense power, drawing in individuals and factions from across the land, all chasing control over what remains.

At the heart of this collapse are creatures known as Beramotes, mysterious beings that emerged when the Chain broke. They’re not just enemies but part of a bigger conflict unfolding behind the scenes. Players take on the role of Gemhunters, individuals willing to risk everything to gather these fragments and either restore balance or claim power for their own ends. The lore doesn’t just serve as backstory, it directly shapes the factions, unit designs, and seasonal narratives that unfold in the game.

Gameplay and Features

Gemhunters is a mix of idle gameplay with RPG-style strategy, where players send their Beras—Cubs, Braves, or Genesis variants—on missions to earn loot, gear, and a resource called Gems. Once you log in, you’ll start with four free Cubs if you’re playing the free-to-play version. But if you stake your Beramonium Genesis NFTs, you unlock access to deeper rewards and higher-tier missions.

Each Bera belongs to one of three core classes—Warrior, Mage, or Hunter—and each of those branches into two Specs (specializations), which define their combat role. Specs include Tanks (sword and shield), Berserkers (two-handed weapons), Healers (staff), Spellcasters (spellbooks), Marksmen (bows), and Rogues (daggers). You can change a Bera's Spec by equipping a new weapon, but you can’t swap between main class types (e.g., a Mage can't become a Warrior). Specs aren’t just cosmetic, they’re crucial to mission success, especially when it comes to countering bosses or forming a balanced party.

Missions are the main way to play and earn in Gemhunters. You don’t control them in real-time, but your choices before launching a mission matter a lot. Missions come in six types: Daily Missions, Quests, Elite Quests, Group Quests, Dungeons, and Raids. Each one varies in duration and reward. Daily Missions, for example, last 30 minutes, cost 0.69 BERA to run, and always succeed—making them a reliable daily grind. On the other hand, Raids take a full week to complete and offer the best shot at legendary loot but require a full squad of four Beras and proper Spec synergy to stand a chance.

What makes the system more than just passive send-and-wait is the boss counter mechanic. Each mission features randomly selected bosses—one in Quests, and up to four in Raids. These bosses have specific counters, and sending in the right Specs can increase your mission success chance by up to 50%. For example, a Screeching Harpy must be countered by a Tank, while an Enchanted Armor Behemoth requires both a Rogue and a Spellcaster. Failing to counter the right bosses doesn’t mean instant failure, but it drastically lowers your odds.

Completing missions yields two main types of rewards: Gems and equipment (armor and weapons). Gems are off-chain and non-tradeable, tied to your Gemhunters account. They’re used to unlock additional missions (the first one per type is free daily), buy items in the Gem Store, and participate in seasonal leaderboards that offer prizes like Bit Bear NFTs. The equipment you earn boosts your Beras’ performance, and while high-tier loot like legendaries is rare, there’s always a chance—even lower missions can surprise you with a lucky pull.

NFTs and Blockchain

Gemhunters runs on Berachain and is deeply tied to the Beramonium ecosystem, where your NFT assets are more than just collectibles—they’re your playable characters. To take full advantage of the game, players need to stake their Beramonium Genesis NFTs through the official staking portal. Only staked Genesis Beras can go on missions and earn rewards, making staking the key to unlocking the full game loop.

The main playable NFTs in Gemhunters come in three tiers: Cubs, Braves, and Genesis Beras. Cubs are free-to-play and good for early progression, but Genesis Beras are the only ones that can access all mission types and offer better success chances thanks to higher stats and gear compatibility. Each Bera also has a Spec (specialization), tied to its equipped weapon and class, which plays a major role in mission success, especially when countering specific bosses.

The game also features a native token called $BERAMO, which was distributed during a test campaign where players earned points through gameplay and community actions. These points were later converted to claimable $BERAMO. While it isn’t actively used in moment-to-moment gameplay right now, $BERAMO is part of the broader Beramonium economy and may tie into future features like crafting, upgrades, or marketplace utilities.

Every player starts with four free Cubs, so you can test the waters by sending them on missions to earn shards and gear.
