Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) returns to Decentraland from April 9 to April 12, 2025, inviting users into a virtual world dedicated to fashion, technology, and digital expression. The annual event highlights the growing intersection of fashion and web3, offering a space for creators, designers, and visitors to connect through virtual experiences. With immersive shows, expert discussions, and interactive contests, MVFW continues to position itself as a key moment in the digital fashion calendar.
Founded in 2020, Decentraland is the first decentralized, community-driven virtual world that empowers users to create, explore, and connect within an open, immersive digital landscape where they own their digital assets. From hosting virtual events to designing your digital identity, it enables users to shape a world that prioritizes self-expression and freedom, without the limitations of corporate control.
Decentraland Guide: Metaverse Fashion Week 2025
At the center of Metaverse Fashion Week is The Plaza, a 105-parcel digital space designed around this year’s theme, Infinite Identities. The area features a central runway surrounded by sixteen designer showrooms that explore two core ideas: “The Augmented Self,” which looks at how technology enhances personal expression, and “The Storied Self,” which considers how individuals use fashion to tell their stories. Visitors can take part in the experience through photo opportunities at six dedicated zones and attend industry talks held at the Party Zone. Scattered throughout the venue are twenty-two exclusive digital collectibles that users can discover and mint during the event.
Metaverse Fashion Week includes a diverse lineup of runway presentations that reflect a wide range of styles and cultural influences. On April 9, digital artist Roustan will mark five years in Decentraland with a showcase focused on the human form and body paint aesthetics. That same evening, the platform will present The Banners We Wear, featuring six winning designs from a global student competition focused on fashion as a medium for resistance and hope.
The segment will include a live panel and an awards ceremony, where one designer will be awarded 10,000 USD in MANA. On April 10, Decentraland will host a showcase of Japanese designers curated by community ambassadors Kenji and Hancos. Later that day, the Cyberdog Runway will present thirteen new pieces from the UK-based brand known for its futuristic and neon-infused designs.
The Wearables Around the World show will follow, highlighting twenty-three digital garments inspired by cultural attire from various regions, including traditional Malaysian, Indian, and Spanish styles. The event continues on April 11 with a showcase by FREE THE YOUTH, a collective based in Ghana known for reinterpreting African streetwear. The presentation will include nine new designs and underscore the group’s commitment to social commentary through fashion.
Social interaction remains a core component of the MVFW experience. The Opening Party, scheduled for April 9 at 10PM UTC, will feature a surprise DJ and performances to mark the start of the event. The celebration continues through the week and concludes with the Closing Party on April 13 at 12AM UTC. This final event encourages attendees to show off their most distinctive avatar designs and participate in the recognition of standout fashion moments from the week.
This year’s schedule includes eight panel discussions led by designers, technologists, and thought leaders exploring the future of digital fashion. These sessions will examine a variety of topics relevant to the web3 gaming and virtual fashion spaces.
The first panel, Decentraland 101, will bring together experienced creators who have shaped the platform’s fashion scene over the past five years. Discussions will focus on lessons learned and the creative evolution of digital design. Virtual Identities, scheduled later the same day, will explore how avatars are increasingly used as tools for self-expression and personal narrative in online spaces.
Other panels include Gaming x Fashion, which analyzes the integration of wearables in gaming environments, and Co-Creating with AI, a look at how designers are working alongside algorithms to develop new fashion concepts. The event will also include its first panel held entirely in Spanish, Avatares y Cultura, which discusses digital identity in Latin America and Spain.
Additional discussions include The Future of Digital Streetwear, where panelists will explore blockchain-based ownership and NFT fashion drops, and Phygital Fashion & Future Retail, which highlights advancements in AR try-ons, virtual styling, and the evolving relationship between digital and physical fashion.

MVFW will also include a curated film segment, presented in collaboration with Red-Eye magazine, Alterrage, Digital Fashion Week, and The Immersive KIND. The screenings will explore themes related to digital materiality, environmental activism, and transmedia fashion narratives. Films such as Alterwear, Fight Fire With Fashion, PHYGITAL, and Lunar Illusions will offer a cinematic lens on how digital fashion continues to evolve as both a design discipline and a storytelling medium.
Several contests will run throughout the week to engage attendees and promote participation. From April 2 to April 9, users can submit their MVFW outfit preparations through the DROPS platform for a chance to win part of a $1,000 USD prize pool. During the event, the Twinning Social Contest invites users to coordinate outfits with friends and post their looks for a chance to win wearable rewards. Another interactive contest, Where’s Juan, challenges attendees to find and photograph Decentraland’s well-known character Juan, with 200 MANA awarded to selected winners.
