Cyber Crash Guide: The Ultimate Beginner's Guide

A comprehensive beginner's guide covering all you need to get started in Cyber Crash

If you like games like Honkai: Star Rail, One Punch Man: The Strongest, Kingdom Story, and other similar gacha turn-based RPGs, you’ll probably enjoy Cyber Crash as well. Cyber Crash is a squad-based, cyberpunk tactical RPG set in a collapsing digital world. Similar to those titles, Cyber Crash’s gameplay revolves around building a squad of various heroes, each with their own roles in battle (attacker, tank, support, etc.). As you progress through the story and level up your Commander, you’ll unlock more and more ways to steadily improve your squad such as obtaining new heroes, equipping powerful implants, upgrading skills, and more. With the first playtest now live, it’s time to crash the cyber world and dominate.

Getting Started

As mentioned, the game’s first test version is now live and playable, but you’ll need a whitelisted account to join. These spots are limited, so if you were one of the lucky players to gain access, congrats! You can head over to the official Cyber Crash website to download the game and install it either on your Android phone or via an emulator on PC (like BlueStacks). Be sure to bind your Web3 wallet to your game account as well, so that any rewards you earn during the test will be sent to the wallet you’ve linked.

Gameplay Basics

At first glance, Cyber Crash’s core gameplay loop might seem straightforward (even a bit repetitive), but trust me, as you progress, things get a lot more interesting. In the beginning, your main tasks will follow the story and double as a tutorial for the core mechanics. The game revolves around building your squad of up to 6 heroes. Each hero has a unique set of skills, their own stats, and a rarity tier, all of which affect how they perform in battle.

Cyber Crash Home Screen

As you collect more heroes and unlock additional team slots, you’ll also gain access to the Formation feature, which lets you manage your squad lineup. Your squad’s formation (who stands in the front vs. the back row) is determined by each hero’s Speed stat. Heroes with higher Speed will be placed closer to the front and are given a lower “sequence” number. Turn order in battle is then decided by these sequence numbers, meaning faster heroes (low sequence) take their turns before slower ones.

Battle Flow and Tactic Points

When a battle starts, you’ll notice a series of blue hexagon icons at the bottom-center of the screen. These are Tactic Points. Every time one of your heroes performs a basic attack (the normal auto-attack), your team gains some Tactic Points. Once the Tactic Points meter fills up to max, your squad enters Tactics Mode.

Cyber Crash Tactic Points

Tactics Mode and Skill Cards

In Tactics Mode, time briefly slows and you get to play skill cards for a tactical advantage. The game will deal you a hand of Skill Cards drawn from the skills of all your deployed heroes. You’ll have a  window to choose which skills to activate and pick their targets. Keep an eye on your Tactic Points during this mode, as each skill card costs a certain amount of those points to play. To exit Tactics Mode, you must use at least one skill card (you can certainly use more if you have the points). Any unused skill cards or leftover Tactic Points will carry over to the next time you enter Tactics Mode. This opens up strategic options: you can save up points and strong skill cards for a crucial moment instead of spending them as soon as they’re available.

Cyber Crash Skill Cards

Of course, enemies get their own tactics phase too. The opposing squad has red hexagon icons under their health bar, indicating their Tactic Points. When the enemy fills their gauge, they’ll enter their version of Tactics Mode and play some powerful skills against you.

Skill Card Upgrades

You might notice some skill cards have upgrade options during Tactics Mode. Each hero generates Energy (shown as a separate resource) by doing basic attacks and through certain passive effects. If a hero has enough Energy, you can choose to power up their skill card, effectively using a stronger, upgraded version of that skill. Upgraded skills can go up to Tier 3 and have bigger effects (but may also cost more energy to use).

Cyber Crash Skill Upgrade

This cycle of alternating between automatic basic attacks and player-controlled Tactics Mode continues until one squad wins the battle. Victory is achieved when you reduce the opposing team’s heroes to 0 HP. Mastering when to enter Tactics Mode and which skills to use is key to overcoming tougher fights as you progress.

Building Your Squad

Cyber Crash might seem simple at first, but once you start building your squad and leveling up your heroes, it gets deep real quick. If you’re the type to theorycraft or just want a strong team, here’s what you need to know.

Hero Roles

Each hero in Cyber Crash falls into one of four core roles, and knowing who does what is key to forming a solid squad.

  • Destroyer – Specializes in AoE damage. Great at hitting multiple enemies or full squads. Some come with bonus effects like buffs or status effects.
  • Assault – High single-target damage dealers. Perfect for focusing down priority threats.
  • Tank – Built to absorb damage. They usually have taunt skills, big HP pools, and defensive skills like shields and taunts to protect your squishies.
  • Support – Healers, buffers, and debuffers. They’re not just medics. Some supports can deal serious damage while keeping the squad alive.

Hero Rarity and Recruitment

Heroes come in different rarity tiers (for example, A, S, etc.), which affect their base stats and growth potential (higher rarity heroes usually have higher max levels and better skills). You can obtain new heroes through the gacha system called Recruit.

Cyber Crash Recruit

Like other gacha games, there are premium summon currencies and free summon currencies. Memories are an in-game item you earn through gameplay that can be used to recruit heroes. However, using free methods, the highest rarity hero you can pull is typically S-class (purple color). Higher tiers (like SS ) might be limited to special banners or premium currency. Don’t worry if you can’t get all the top-tier units immediately ,a well-built team of lower rarity heroes can still carry you far. The game often gives some free pulls and beginner rewards to get you started.

Team Composition & Synergy

When building your six-hero squad, having a balanced setup helps a lot. A solid starting point is one full Tank, two Supports for healing or buffs, and three damage dealers using a mix of Assault and Destroyer roles. That said, you’re not locked into any formula. Some top players are running teams with three SSS rank Assault heroes, two Supports and a tank.

Cyber Crash Gacha

What really matters is synergy. Some heroes just work better when paired together. For example, one might apply a Bleed status effect, and another might have a skill that hits multiple times. That kind of combo can trigger the bleed repeatedly and deal a lot more damage than usual. It’s worth checking your heroes’ skills and passives closely, as sometimes the best team setups come from small interactions like that.

Leveling Up Heroes

As you complete missions and events, you’ll earn various materials to power up your heroes. The most common is TacData, which is basically the EXP juice for leveling up heroes. To level a character, go to the Combatant menu, select the hero you want to train, and spend TacData (and some coins) to increase their level. Each hero has a maximum level cap determined by their current star-rank and breakthrough progress. When a hero hits their current level cap, you’ll need to perform a Breakthrough to raise that cap further. Breakthroughs typically require special materials (often dropped from story stages or resource quests) plus additional TacData. After breaking through, the hero’s level cap increases (and stat upgrades), allowing you to continue leveling them. Repeating this process lets you eventually push a hero to their true max level. Make sure to keep your main team members (like your carries) leveled up so they don’t fall behind in tougher stages.

Star-Up

You can Star Up your heroes to make them even stronger. This system is similar to the constellation mechanic in other RPGs. Whenever you obtain a duplicate of a hero you already own (for instance, pulling the same hero again from the gacha), that duplicate is converted into shards or materials that can be used to increase the original hero’s star level. Each Star Up rank grants your hero improved base stats and sometimes unlocks new passive abilities or enhanced skills (making heroes significantly more powerful at higher star levels). Star-ups require not only duplicate shards but also some additional currency. It’s a long-term way to maximize a character’s potential. In some cases, a fully starred low-rarity character can even keep up with or outperform a higher-rarity hero that hasn’t been upgraded much yet.

Skill Codes

As your Commander level rises and you progress, you’ll unlock Skill Codes, a special item used to upgrade hero skills. Think of Skill Codes like mods or talent points that you can socket into a hero to enhance specific abilities. Each hero has slots for Skill Codes; by equipping a code into a slot, you improve the corresponding skill. You get to choose which skill/s to prioritize, so if you have a favorite attack or a clutch heal, you can beef it up first. Skill Codes can be earned from various resources (R&D Facility) or events.

Implants

This is where Cyber Crash brings in its version of the gear system. Instead of armor or accessories, your heroes use Implants. Think of them like artifacts if you’ve played Genshin. They boost your stats and can give set bonuses when you equip matching pieces.

You’ll unlock implants once you reach the Cyber Siege feature. From there, you can start running missions and boss fights that drop random implants. Each hero can equip up to six of them, and each implant usually boosts a specific stat like HP, attack, or speed. Implants come in different rarities too. Higher rarity ones not only have better base stats but also belong to specific sets. If you equip enough implants from the same set on one hero, you’ll activate a bonus effect that can give them a solid advantage in battle.

Continuous Growth

Beyond the main story missions, Cyber Crash offers a variety of game modes that unlock as you advance. These modes are key to gathering resources and materials needed to keep improving your squad. Here are some of the additional modes and what they provide:

Cyber Crash Resource Sources

  • R&D Facility: A resource-generating mode where you can obtain important upgrade materials. Use R&D missions to farm TacData (for leveling heroes), Anima Chips, and Skill Codes for upgrading abilities.
  • Supply Raid: This mode lets you send out a squad on expeditions to earn rewards. It’s essentially a deployment/idle exploration – you choose a few heroes to go on a timed mission, and when they return they’ll bring back loot.
  • Rebuild: In Rebuild mode, you deploy heroes of a specific class to undertake drills that boost the stats of all heroes of that class
  • Ghost Tide: A survival-type challenge where your squad must clear multiple waves of enemies. The further you get, the bigger the reward. Ghost Tide is an endurance mode that rewards Secure Coins in large quantities upon completion. Secure Coins are basically the game's version of gold.
  • Dimension Assault (Exploration & World Bosses): This mode is Cyber Crash’s take on exploration and big co-op boss fights. You clear missions on a map called a dimension. Finish everything to unlock that area's World Boss. These bosses have massive HP and can be attacked by multiple players at once. Everyone deals as much damage as they can before the timer runs out. The more damage you do, the better your rewards. Bosses also drop co-op chests with high-tier loot, but it’s first come first serve, so grab them quick before someone else snags them.

Cyber Crash World Boss

You can open most of the rewards you’ve earned from events and game modes through your Inventory Menu. Items like gear, skill codes, or boxes will be stored there until you decide to use them. As for rewards like currencies or materials, those get automatically added to your account balance the moment you receive them, so you won’t need to claim anything manually. Always check your inventory after a big farming session to see what new stuff you’ve picked up.

PvP and Arena Battles

What’s a competitive RPG without some PvP action? Cyber Crash has an arena mode called Digital Clash where you can test your squad against other players. And during this first test phase, PvP actually matters a lot since a big chunk of campaign rewards is tied to your leaderboard rank.

Cyber Crash Digital Clash

Once you unlock Digital Clash, you’ll get a list of nine enemy squads to choose from. These are other players around your current rank, or AI versions of their teams. To climb the ladder, just pick someone, win the fight, and watch your rank go up. Before you battle, you can tap on a squad to scout their lineup. This helps you prep a counter strategy. For example, if their team is built around a strong Assault hero, you might want to bring a Tank with taunt to soak up the hits. If they’ve got double Support, you could go for burst damage to take one out early. You’ll also see an estimated battle power for each team so you know what you’re walking into. If their power is way higher, maybe skip that fight unless you’re feeling lucky.

Winning arena battles gets you reward chests and other useful loot. The more wins you stack, the better your tier rewards. And if you’re the competitive type aiming for the top, your playtest rewards are also tied to how high you place on the leaderboard.

Crash the Cyber World

Before you dive back in, here are a few quick tips to help you get started on the right foot:

  • Early on, don’t stress too much about not pulling top tier heroes. Even A class units are more than enough to carry you through the main story. Just focus on leveling them up and star up them enough to meet the power level requirements for each stage. But don’t dump all your resources into them right away. You will eventually need those to upgrade your higher rarity heroes later on.
  • Make sure to use the Blitz feature. The Blitz feature is basically Cyber Crash’s version of sweep. You can replay and skip battles you have already cleared to quickly get the loot rewards. It is super useful when farming materials for hero level up or clearing farming modes faster.
  • Check your implant sets. Once you start getting multiple S rank implants, look if you can complete a full set. Most set effects activate when you equip four matching pieces, giving your hero a strong stat boost.
  • Check your game mail often. You might find free loot, Neurocon energy, or other useful rewards sitting there waiting to be claimed.
  • Complete your daily and weekly tasks. These usually give you valuable resources and memory cores for hero gacha pulls and upgrades.

And that’s a wrap for this Cyber Crash beginner’s guide.  Thanks for reading, and we hope this guide helped you get ready to crash the cyber world. Good luck out there, Commander.
