Cross The Ages is not just a game; it's an entire ecosystem with books, characters, a captivating storyline, and two exciting games: Cross The Ages: TCG and Arise. While Cross The Ages: TCG falls under the Trading Card Game genre, it offers a unique experience unlike typical TCGs.
When you think of TCGs, titles like Hearthstone, Gods Unchained, or Skyweaver may come to mind. However, Cross The Ages sets itself apart by focusing more on conquering territories rather than solely destroying your opponent's god or hero.
Once you've created your account on the website and downloaded the game, it's time to embark on your first Cross The Ages match. The game will guide you through a tutorial, but if you prefer to skip it, don't worry—we'll cover everything you need to know right here.
In Cross The Ages, your objective is to conquer territory by capturing cards, in contrast to traditional TCGs where the goal is to destroy your opponent's cards. To capture a card, you need to play one of your cards next to your opponent's card and attempt to seize it. The success of capturing a card depends on two key factors: the power score of both cards and their respective elements.
Instead of having attack and health points, cards in Cross The Ages are defined by a numerical value known as their power. To capture a card, your card's power score must be higher than that of your opponent's card. However, there's a twist!
If your card's element has an advantage over your opponent's card's element, you gain an additional 150 power for your card. Conversely, if the opposite is true, you subtract 150 power from your card. Additionally, the element of the field also plays a role. If your card matches the field's element, it receives extra power based on the field's power. For example, a standard Nature field adds 50 power to all Nature cards played while it's active.
Admittedly, it may take some time to fully grasp the concept of the Heptagram and elemental affinities. As a recommendation, keep the Heptagram open during your initial matches to familiarize yourself with its mechanics.
The Heptagram represents the seven elements of Cross The Ages and their respective strengths and weaknesses. For instance, Fire is strong against Nature but vulnerable to Water.
Another crucial factor to consider when playing a card is its potential affinity, which provides a buff when the card is placed next to a card of a specific element. For example, if you position a Fire card adjacent to an Air card, both cards receive a +100 Power buff, making them more challenging to capture. This is known as a Double Affinity. Moreover, Triple Affinities occur when three cards share an affinity, granting all three cards a +100 Power buff.
When cards form an affinity, you will see lightning effects surrounding the affected cards. Additionally, affinities contribute to increasing your score.
By understanding the mechanics of the Heptagram and mastering elemental affinities, you can strategically utilize them to your advantage and dominate the battlefield in Cross The Ages.
When you successfully capture a card, it will attempt to capture the following card, creating a chain. The number of chain attacks is displayed at the bottom of the screen. For example, if your captured card has a chain value of 2, it will only attempt to capture the surrounding cards, resulting in a maximum of 2 attacks.
To construct your deck in Cross The Ages, navigate to the deck menu and click the "+" button to create a new deck from scratch.
Each deck consists of a total of 30 cards, including 29 regular cards and one leader. The combined Power of the cards in your deck cannot exceed 15,000. It is recommended to add cards with different elements to provide a variety of options during matches.
To add a card to your deck, simply click on the desired card, and it will be included in your new deck. The first card you select will become your Leader.
To begin playing, select a game mode and a deck, then click "Play."
The first step is to decide your starting hand. If you wish to replace a card, simply click on that card.
A dice will be rolled to determine who starts the match. Now, recall what you have learned in this guide. Place your cards strategically next to your opponent's cards to capture them. Utilize elemental affinities to your advantage and make wise decisions with your leader.
When you select a card and drag it next to one of your opponent's cards, you will see a symbol of two arrows on the opponent's cards. This indicates that playing your card in that position will successfully capture them.
As shown in the example, playing a 650-power card will capture both surrounding cards successfully.
If you have an unfortunate hand, you can redraw one card. Simply drag the card you wish to replace to the fire symbol at the bottom.

In addition to card affinities, Leaders play a crucial role in Cross The Ages. Unlike traditional Trading Card Games (TCGs), losing your leader does not automatically result in a match loss. However, your leader's abilities significantly impact the outcome of each match.
Leaders possess unique abilities, and any card can be chosen as your deck leader. You can select your leader's ability by clicking on the "+" symbol while creating a deck.
