<h2>Overview</h2>
<p>Cross The Ages is a radical new approach to the card game genre. Seven books by 13 authors, many of whom have won awards for their work, define the universe. It describes a world inhabited by three distinct populations: the Arkhante, the Mantris, and the people from the Rift.</p>
<p>Cross The Ages novels will be made available for free over the course of several years. The game's mechanics will evolve in accordance with the lore. The first novel has been published and is available at crosstheages.com, and a new chapter of the second is being made available every week. The 365 digital cards that accompany each Cross The Ages book come in varied degrees of rarity.</p>

<h2>Gameplay &amp; Game Modes</h2>
<p>Cross The Ages takes in a lot of inspiration from Legends of Runeterran and Hearthstone, two of the most prominently known names in the traditional gaming card genre, while adding their own twist to the gameplay design. Players face off in intense turn-based duels, with each match lasting an average of 5 minutes. The objective is to create the best strategy to conquer and get the most points within the battle arena.</p>
<p>The action in Cross The Ages is constantly shifting and evolving. In the heat of combat, you and your opponent will do anything to get control of as many battle cards as possible. The core of the game is based on the affinity or trinity of the player's deck of battle cards, as well as the cards' powers and elements (called Arkhome). When a duel begins, both players attempt to take control of the board by capturing combat cards. Whoever reaches the goal points first, or has the highest total when the board is full, wins.</p>

<p>You will win if you capture as many of your opponent's cards as possible and use them to form as many affinities and trinities as possible.</p>
<p>You get two points for every card you flip over. Every time that you maintain control of a trinity (a sequence of three elements according to the heptagram), you score three points (one for each card in the trinity). To succeed at Cross The Ages, you'll need to master a number of concepts. These include board mechanics, card usage, and capture strategies.</p>
<p>The team over at Cross The Ages are as passionate as they come, with hardcore Magic: The Gathering players spread across all their departments. This ties in with the NFC and physical card iterations of the game's library as the main goal is to bridge the gap between web3 gaming and physical products.In ranked mode, you can climb the ladder and unlock Affixes at different levels. Affixes are random parameters adding dynamism and excitement to Cross The Ages games! </p>
<p>At the highest competitive levels, up to two affixes can be active in a single game, and their effects are variable: from increasing or decreasing the final score, to adding field effects randomely for specific turns, to the shift of the heptagram for the whole game. Affixes will test your capacity to stay the top player!</p>

<p>Cross The Ages offers many game modes: RANKED for the competition where you can challenge players from all over the world and NORMAL to fine-tune your deck and strategy. Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, you will find your place!</p>
<p>When playing Cross The Ages in Ranked mode, you are right in the thick of things. You will be severely punished for even the smallest infraction, but the ultimate prize is triumph. The higher you finish each week in the rankings, the more points you will receive at the end of the season. Rewards will be given out at the end of the era based on your total point balance. Winners receive special rewards, including bundles of Trisel and Prana as well as card chests and even rare cards. Then why are you still on the sidelines?</p>
<p>Do not bother with elo in Normal mode. Before taking on the top players in the world in Ranked mode, you may test your deck and strategy against everyone else. You should not worry about falling in the rankings. The best way to try out new decks and strategies with friends is in the Custom mode. You can alter the settings to suit your preferences. You can set any parameters you choose, such as the required point total, the time restriction, the Arkhomes benefits, the affixes, etc.That's the spot to host your own tournaments and competitions with your pals!</p>
<h2>Cards: Types and Rarities</h2>

<p>There are two main types of cards in Cross The Ages; Battle and Field cards. The former is the backbone of the game since they are what you will consistently to attack and defend your board.</p>
<p>On the other hand, Field cards&nbsp;are special cards that allow you to change the element of the board and boost all cards of the same element.  </p>
<p>There is 8 different rarities of cards you can get out packs and they are as follows:</p>
<ol><li>Common</li><li>Uncommon</li><li>Rare</li><li>Special Rare</li><li>Ultra Rare</li><li>Mythic</li><li>Exclusive</li><li>Unique</li></ol>
<p>Rarities from Common to Special Rare are attainable to players who put in the time towards climbing the ranked ladder and playing Cross The Ages regularly. Ultra Rare and Mythic however are a bit more difficult to obtain since they are only available inside&nbsp;Apprentice,&nbsp;Disciple, and&nbsp;Primus packs.</p>
<p>As for Exclusive and Unique cards, these are split between airdrops, investors' exclusive, and redeemable codes found in physical Cross The Ages merchandise. Both of them only differ in<b>&nbsp;</b>artwork&nbsp;and have the same characteristics as Standard cards. Unique cards live up to their name though since only&nbsp;one model ever in-game and the studio is keeping it under wraps for now on how to get any of them so you will have to dig up some information and be the first to claim a Unique card.</p>

<h2>How to Get Started</h2>
<p>Cross The Ages’ card packs are available for purchase on Opensea through two collections;&nbsp;<a href="https://opensea.io/collection/arkhante-booster-standard-pack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Standard&nbsp;</a>and&nbsp;<a href="https://opensea.io/collection/cross-the-ages-arkhante-booster-premium-pack-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Premium&nbsp;</a>packs. The standard packs grant players early access to the game and 20 playable NFT cards.&nbsp;</p>
<p>On the other hand, the premium packs include three main tiers; Apprentice, Disciple, and Primus. Each of them features an increased chance, or even guaranteed, of pulling rare, ultra rare, legendary, and mythic characters to kick off your Cross The Ages career.</p>
<p>These packs can be redeemed for the cards they hold in-game once it goes live towards end of Q3 2022.</p>

<h2>Gameplay</h2>
<p>As per usual, let's begin with the game's visual appeal, specifically, the artwork on the cards. Much like many card games where the cards are of essential importance and their artwork is typically stunning, 'Cross the Ages' is no exception. Furthermore, the cards receive visual enhancements as they level up. At present, three out of five teased levels are discernible, each subsequent level introducing animated visuals. Moreover, each card acknowledges its respective artist within the game itself, and a full inspection of the card reveals the complete, borderless artwork used.</p>

<p>Upon your initial encounter with the game in the tutorials (which you'll undoubtedly need), you'll observe a complex, intricate, seven-element type-match-up chart shaped like a Heptagram. Grappling with the elemental advantages and synergies can be quite overwhelming, necessitating some time to adjust.</p>

<p>Once you've completed the tutorials and dare to venture into deck-building, you may initially feel a tad lost and puzzled as you assemble a 30-card deck from your available cards within a point cap. This process encourages you to continuously swap and reselect cards in hopes of crafting a deck that suits your play style and chosen element. The task can be initially daunting, and could certainly benefit from more guidance.</p>
<p>Beyond the deck creator and Heptagram, the game itself poses a challenge and takes a few rounds to get used to. At first, the mechanics might seem simple—just play a higher power card to capture your opponent’s—but it quickly gets more complex with elemental effects, affinities, board effects, faction bonuses, trinity synergies, leader abilities, and more. These mechanics aren't the most straightforward, and you'll need to embrace this unique style of trading card game. However, once you gain a better understanding and score your first wins, you’ll start spotting more tactical opportunities to enhance your plays and fine-tune your deck for an edge over your opponent.</p>
<h2>Review</h2>
<p>Cross the Ages is surprisingly fun and doesn’t waste your time. Matches can wrap up in under 12 minutes since each player has a time limit to make their move, which makes it perfect for quick breaks. But don’t let the short match time fool you—every card you play can flip the board completely, so you’ve got to stay sharp the whole way through.</p>
<p>The game’s been in development for years, and it shows. The visuals are clean, the card art is honestly awesome, the story’s solid, and new content keeps rolling in. They even have a proper tutorial for new players, which you’ll definitely need because this game isn’t like other TCGs. Instead of magic spells and trap cards, Cross the Ages plays on a 4x4 board. You win by controlling territory, not just by overpowering your opponent. It’s all about smart placement, deck building, and knowing how to use the Heptagram system, where each card has an elemental type with strengths and weaknesses. It flips the typical TCG formula on its head, and it actually works really well. Big points for originality here. You can play on both PC and mobile. Personally, I prefer the mobile version as it feels smoother and more intuitive. The PC version looks great too, especially when it comes to seeing the full Heptagram clearly, but I did run into a few lags here and there.</p>

<p>Web3 stuff is built into the game but doesn’t feel forced. Their main token powers the card ecosystem, and you can trade cards easily, even if you’re not into crypto. There’s an on-ramp system, so even Web2 players can jump in and trade without needing a wallet. Plus, with regular expansion packs, cosmetics, and even some cool collabs (like one with Watch Dogs), there’s always something new to check out.</p>

<p>Now, obviously, it’s a TCG, so yeah, there’s a bit of a pay-to-win angle. Players who spend will have an edge, especially when new meta cards drop or when crafting stronger versions of cards. That said, the game puts a cap on total deck power, so big spenders don’t completely steamroll everyone. It’s not perfect, but it’s fair enough.</p>
<p>Long-term, the game’s replayability depends on how strong the community stays. TCGs are already kind of niche, and with CTA’s unique mechanics, it narrows the audience even more. But if you’re a card game fan and this clicks with you, you’ll probably go all in—building decks, theorycrafting, and sticking around. It’s the kind of game that might not go mainstream, but the people who get hooked will stay loyal.</p>
