Overview

Cosmic Royale is a free-to-play kart racing game that adds an exciting twist to the battle royale genre. Developed by Eden Games, (a subsidiary of Anicmoca Brands) known for racing titles like V-Rally and Test Drive Unlimited, the game invites players to compete in high-speed cosmic races filled with chaos, strategy, and fun. With multiple game modes and extensive customization options, Cosmic Royale is designed to cater to both casual players and competitive racers. 

Gameplay and Features

Cosmic Royale combines traditional kart racing with battle royale mechanics, offering a fast-paced and competitive experience. The game includes three core modes:

• Obstacle Race challenges players to navigate tricky paths filled with traps and obstacles, requiring precision and speed.
• Survival Mode focuses on endurance, eliminating racers who fail to keep up.
• Mortal Race raises the stakes even higher, with a single mistake leading to elimination.

Customization is a standout feature in Cosmic Royale. Players can personalize their karts and drivers with a wide range of skins, accessories, and visual upgrades. The game’s progression system is tied to the Cosmic Pass, a seasonal reward system that offers unlockable items like karts, parts, banner elements, and in-game currency. The Rewardator system further enhances gameplay by boosting Cosmic Energy and XP based on how players upgrade their karts.

Two in-game currencies drive progression: Orbs (soft currency) and Comets (premium currency). Both can be earned through gameplay and the Cosmic Pass, allowing players to unlock items in the shop without feeling forced into purchases.

Seasonal Content

The game launched with Season 0 [Prologue], offering 13 challenging tracks and three game modes. Players had access to a range of customization options, including over 70 cosmetic items and a Cosmic Pass with exclusive rewards.

Looking ahead, Season 1 will expand the game’s content in January 2025. It will introduce eight new tracks, a new game mode called The Scoring Zone, and additional karts and drivers. The revamped Cosmic Pass will feature 45 new items, offering even more opportunities for players to personalize their experience. A solo progression system and better options for playing with friends are also on the horizon.

NFTs and Web3

Cosmic Royale incorporates optional Web3 features, letting players connect their crypto wallets and bring NFT avatars into the game as drivers. During the beta, players could mint exclusive NFT karts from the Cosmic Royale Supernova Collection. However, these features are optional, and the game is fully accessible without engaging in blockchain or NFT elements. This balance ensures that Cosmic Royale remains enjoyable for both traditional gamers and Web3 enthusiasts.

How to Get Started

Download the game for free from Steam or the Epic Games Store. Once installed, create an account, choose your kart and driver, and jump into the tutorial to get familiar with the controls. While the game supports keyboard controls, using a game controller is recommended for the best experience. For those interested in exploring Web3 features, players can link a crypto wallet to use NFT avatars in the game, but this step is entirely optional.
