Castle of Blackwater

Overview

Castle of Blackwater is a 2D, action-packed, social deduction game with a magical twist. 

In this intense game of trust and betrayal, up to 15 strangers are trapped in a castle of danger and deception, with a mission to complete tasks and escape with their lives. Some will work together, forming bonds and strong alliances. Others will pretend and deceive, with their own interests at heart. 

Each player will receive a unique role, belonging to one of three factions, with abilities to support their playstyle. Using these special powers, as well as their own deductive reasoning, players must uncover those working against them before getting eliminated themselves.

Alive players can utilize many of the in-game tools to help them put together the pieces of the puzzle. Dead players will have the opportunity to collect and spend souls, buying mighty power-ups that can help turn the tide for their team from beyond the grave.

In the ever-lasting battle between good and evil, only one side will survive to claim the Castle’s victory.

What is a Social Deduction?

Imagine being thrust into a world where no one is as they seem. In Social Deduction games, every conversation hides secrets, every alliance is fragile, and the truth is just another weapon. Players must navigate a web of deception to uncover who among them is friend or foe. As you watch behaviors, challenge alibis, and unravel hidden agendas, the line between ally and enemy blurs. Trust becomes a scarce commodity.

The battlefield? Minds. The weapons? Words and wits. While one side, often the ‘good,’ works to achieve a noble goal, the ‘evil’ lurks in the shadows, pretending to help while plotting to bring them down. Bonds are forged and broken, alliances made and betrayed, and in the high-stakes struggle for victory, only the clever and cunning will prevail. 

In a world where loyalty is fleeting and the price of the betrayal is steep, will you be the one to outsmart them all? Or will you fall victim to the lies and deception in the castle halls?

Factions

Three factions fighting for glory!

In the eternal struggle between good and evil, the motives of each party member are far from uniform. Every challenger follows their own distinct set of values and ambitions.

Players can select from a diverse cast of characters, each offering unique abilities and playstyles to suit their preferred strategy. These roles are distributed across factions, with every character bringing a different dynamic to the gameplay.

The Protectors: Most players will join the Protectors faction, but at the start, they won’t know the roles or factions of others. As a Protector, your goal is to survive and complete tasks around the castle to fill your team’s XP bar. When the bar reaches 100%, all Protectors (alive or dead) win, and progress can be tracked in the Book of Tasks.

The Satanic: Satanic players know who their teammates are and have a secret communication channel. While Satanic players can’t complete tasks, they must pretend to avoid suspicion.

Each Satanic player can kill a non-Satanic player once per day and once per night. Some Protector roles have greater influence, so Satanic players should prioritize their targets and hide their eliminations. If they succeed in eliminating all Protectors, the Satanic win.

The Forgotten: Forgotten players can win or lose independently of the battle between Protectors and Satanic, allowing them to either cooperate or sabotage both sides to achieve their own goals.

Each Forgotten character has a unique win condition that shapes their strategy, but all share a common objective: completing one easy, one medium, and one hard task.
