Ronin has quickly become the go-to chain for web3 games making the jump to new ecosystems, and Cambria is one of the most exciting titles to call it home. It’s a risk-to-earn MMO that channels the spirit of RuneScape, but with a web3 layer that adds real stakes to every run. If you’re just getting started and not sure what to do first, don’t worry, this guide has your back. From setting up your account to surviving your first missions, we’ll walk you through it all, one step at a time.

How to Create a Cambria Account

Before you can start playing Cambria, you’ll need a Ronin Wallet. If you played Axie or Pixels before, you're likely to be familiar with the Ronin blockchain, which Cambria runs on, and it’s where your in-game assets are stored and managed. Once your Ronin Wallet is set up, creating your Cambria account is quick and easy. Head to the official Cambria site and click Play Now. This takes you to the game lobby, where you’ll be prompted to log in. Choose the Ronin Wallet option and approve the connection. Cambria will automatically link your wallet to a new game account, so no payment is required.

Next, you’ll create your Cambria character. Choose a username (this will be your in-game name) and customize a few appearance options like hairstyle, eye color, and skin tone. Once confirmed, your character is bound to your Ronin wallet, and your game account is officially created. With your wallet connected and your character ready, you’re almost set. The final step before jumping in is claiming your Cambria Pass — your ticket to start exploring.

How to Claim Your Cambria Pass

Cambria usually requires a pass to play long-term, but new players get a solid head start without needing to spend anything. The moment you register and log in with your Ronin wallet, you’ll receive a free Season 2 trial pass.

This trial gives you 30,000 Energy, which is more than enough to fully explore the early game. In Cambria, Energy is your main resource for doing anything productive. Whether you're fighting monsters, gathering materials, crafting gear, or even just traveling through certain zones, each action uses a bit of Energy. With 30,000 to start, you can experience the game freely and progress through most of the early content without worrying about limitations. You'll be able to gear up, earn loot, complete tasks, and test every core system Cambria has to offer. Once your Energy runs out, your character becomes exhausted. That means you won't be able to gather, fight, or turn in high-value items until your Energy is replenished. For free trial players, Energy does not regenerate over time.

If you’re enjoying the game and want to keep playing, you can upgrade to a Royal Charter. This is Cambria’s paid season pass. It costs $RON (around $30 worth) and gives you daily Energy refills, access to full progression, and the ability to keep earning throughout the season. Think of it as unlocking the full MMO experience once you’re ready to commit.

First Steps on the Starting Island

When you click “Play” and enter the game world for the first time, your character will spawn on a Starting Island, a tutorial zone designed to teach you the basics of Cambria. Picture a small island with a few NPCs, animals, and resource nodes. This is your training ground, and it’s worth taking seriously. The tutorial covers core mechanics you’ll use throughout your entire adventure. Here's A Few Tips While You’re on the Island:

Explore and Gather: Walk around and collect as much as you can. You’ll likely come across cows or other animals, kill them for leather and raw meat. Look for rocks to mine and trees to chop. These resources are useful for early crafting and also help you level your gathering and combat skills. You should already have a basic toolkit in your inventory (like a pickaxe), which you can use to harvest materials. Keep an eye on tool durability as they will wear out eventually, but should last long enough to get you going.

Meet the NPCs: Several named NPCs on the island serve different purposes. One might run a shop, another handles crafting, and another may offer tutorial missions. Look for Cyril, the merchant who buys your gathered materials for Silver. You might also see Sousin, who’s usually tied to missions or crafting. These characters will show up again later in the main world, so it helps to get familiar with them now.

Complete the Tutorial Tasks: You’ll be asked to complete simple tasks like gathering wood or crafting a basic item. These objectives are designed to reinforce the core mechanics of the game, and finishing them often rewards you with useful materials or early-game gear. Your active tutorial missions will appear on the left side of your screen. You can click on any task to view more details, such as which materials are required for crafting or where to go to complete the objective.

The main objective on Starting Island is to earn 100 Silver, this covers your boat fare to the mainland. The fastest way to make this money is by selling your gathered resources. Find Cyril (usually near the center of the island), open your inventory, and right-click on items like leather or ore to sell them. If you’ve been gathering steadily, reaching 100 Silver should be no problem.

Once you’ve got the Silver, head to the top of the island where you’ll find Fong, the ferryman. Talk to him and choose to travel to the mainland. He’ll take your 100 Silver and transport you to Capital City, the central hub of the game. From then on the real adventure begins.

How to Choose Your Cambria Class

Cambria doesn’t lock you into a class at character creation. Instead, your combat role depends entirely on the weapon you equip. There are three combat styles: Warrior (melee), Archer (ranged physical), and Mage (magic). While you can eventually try all three, it’s smarter to focus on just one at the start.

For Season 2, the best beginner options are Warrior or Archer. Warriors use melee weapons like swords, axes, or maces to fight up close. They’re durable, easy to play, and can take a few hits without going down. Archers, on the other hand, use bows to fight from a distance. They’re great for staying safe while dealing steady damage, and they don’t require complex gear setups to be effective early on.

Mages are a more advanced pick. Playing as a Mage requires specific resources to cast spells, such as charged stones and a staff or wand, which can be hard to get early in the game. Their armor is also much lighter, which means they’re easier to kill if you’re caught unprepared. If you’re new to Cambria, it’s best to save the Mage route for later when you have more materials and a better grasp of the game’s systems.

Cambria actually allows you to eventually level up and use two of the three classes on a single character. Many players end up training a second combat style over time, but to keep things smooth and manageable early on, stick with one. If you didn’t start with a weapon or want to upgrade, check the shops in Capital City or browse the player market. Most blacksmith NPCs sell basic bronze swords or bows for a reasonable amount of Silver. You can also craft your own weapons if you’ve been mining copper and tin and have some smithing skill, a bronze sword or dagger is a solid early-game choice.

Gathering, Combat, and Crafting Basics

Now that you’ve got a class in mind and some starter gear, let’s go over the core gameplay basics of Cambria: gathering resources, fighting enemies, and crafting upgrades. These are the pillars of your progression.

1. Gather

Every run in Cambria starts with gathering. You’ll head out into the wild to chop trees, mine ore, hunt animals, fish, or even crack open chests and jars scattered around the world. Gathering fuels everything else you do. It gives you the materials to build gear, stock your bank, and even earn Coins passively, which count toward your seasonal rewards. Sometimes you might stumble upon a rare Curio or get ambushed by a monster while gathering, and just like that, you’re already on to the next phase.

2. Craft

After gathering, it’s time to craft. Once you’re back in town or at a camp, take those materials and turn them into something useful. Smelt ore into weapons and armor, cook raw meat into healing food, fletch logs into arrows, or brew potions from herbs. Crafting is core to the game — most gear in Cambria is player-made — and it’s also tied to your progression. Seasonal tasks may even reward Royal Favor just for crafting certain items. If you come across rare materials, consider turning them into high-tier gear to either sell or use.

3. Fight

Once you're geared up, it’s time to fight. Head into open-world areas or dungeons and start taking down monsters. This is where you level your combat skills, collect valuable drops, and earn even more Coins through kills. Some mobs drop basic stuff like bones or leather, but others might drop high-value items like Artifacts, Curios, or Gems, the real keys to progressing in Cambria. These rare items push your seasonal score forward, and even if you're not aiming for leaderboard placement, fighting is how you unlock tougher zones and get stronger.

4. Loot

Loot is the payoff for your grind. While you’ll find plenty of common items like coins, hides, or rusty gear, the big prizes are corrupted treasures like Artifacts and Curios. When you return to a safe zone, you can take them to Ser Althus at the Royal Treasury. Turning them in gets you Royal Favor and Coins. Favor is your long-term progression score and unlocks Bribe crates that can contain things like Trinkets (airdrop points), extra gear, or even land raffle entries. If you’d rather not turn your loot in, you can sell it on the player market instead — sometimes getting Silver right away is more useful than waiting on long-term rewards.

5. Sell & Profit

After all that, you’ll wrap up the loop by selling off anything you don’t need. Junk and extras can go to NPC vendors for Silver. High-value gear or rare mats can be stored in your bank until you’re ready to use or sell them. Use your profits to restock on food, upgrade your weapons, or prepare for the next run.

And if you’ve earned enough Royal Favor, don’t forget to check the lobby for Bribe crates, they’re basically lootboxes that reward you based on how much progress you’ve made.

Royal Favor vs. Silver – What’s the Difference?

Silver is your everyday currency in Cambria. You’ll use it to buy weapons, armor, food, teleportation, and to repair your gear. It’s essential for keeping your gameplay running smoothly and handling the day-to-day needs of your character. Royal Favor, on the other hand, is your long-term progression score. It tracks your seasonal contributions, boosts your chances for airdrops, and unlocks Bribe crates that can contain rare rewards.

Both Silver and Royal Favor are important. While Silver keeps you equipped and active, Favor builds up over time and can lead to bigger payoffs later. Even if you’re focused on farming Silver now, don’t neglect Favor—it sticks with your account and could become valuable in future events or seasons.

This is the loop you’ll repeat again and again: Gather → Craft → Fight → Loot → Profit. Every cycle makes you stronger, better equipped, and more valuable in the ecosystem. Whether you’re playing casually or going for the top ranks, mastering this loop is how you progress in Cambria.

Quick Survival Tips for New Players

Cambria is brutal when you're not prepared, full loot, PvP, the whole deal. Here’s what you really need to know to stay alive:

  • Watch Your Weight. Every item has weight. If you go over 100%, you’ll move slower. Go over 125%, you can’t move at all. Drop junk or bank your stuff before you become free loot.
  • Always Bank Your Valuables. Don’t bring your life savings on every run. Use the bank in town to store Silver, rare loot, or extra gear. If you die in a PvP zone, you drop everything.
  • Use Teleports. Need to travel? Pay for a teleport. It’s faster, safer, and saves your Energy. Way better than walking into a Tier 3 gank squad.
  • Red Names = Run. Red names on the map or screen mean flagged players. That’s your warning to bounce — or prepare for a fight. You’re probably not ready for one.
  • Coca Leaves = Life. These give you a short speed burst — perfect for escaping fights. Always carry a couple and keep them in your hotbar. Don’t leave town without them.
  • Fix Your Gear. Weapons and armor break over time. Keep an eye on durability and repair often. Fighting with broken gear = death.
  • Read the Wiki. If you’re ever lost or want to dig deeper into Cambria’s mechanics, the game’s official wiki is your best friend. It’s packed with crucial info, from stat breakdowns to crafting formulas to loot tables. Whether you're min-maxing or just trying to figure out how something works, the wiki is where you'll find the answers.

Loot Hard or Die Trying

That’s it! you’re officially prepped for the grind. Cambria isn’t just play-to-earn, it’s risk-to-earn, and trust us, the risk part shows up real fast. Every step outside the safe zone could lead to loot, glory, or getting clapped by a swamp dragon while a red-named player steals your shoes. But that’s the thrill, right? So pack your gear, keep your silver close, and remember: if you’re not a little nervous, you’re probably not earning enough. See you in the wilds, and may your loot always make it home.
