Calamity is a free-to-play action RPG set in a colorful 2D top-down world. The game focuses on a player-driven economy, moving away from traditional microtransactions and pay-to-win models, and instead, rewards players for their in-game achievements.

Switching weapons mid-progress is still encouraged, allowing you to pivot into different roles depending on what your group or situation needs. Skill mastery now comes from hands-on play, dungeon progression, and learning enemy patterns rather than menu-based leveling.

Progression in Calamity is closely tied to your choice of weaponry. As you use specific weapon types in dungeons, you level up the corresponding specialization, which in turn enhances your character’s stats. Players can further customize their gear through the use of gems and by enhancing items, allowing for a tailored approach to both PvE and PvP gameplay.
Artifacts in Calamity are unique, rare items that provide both cosmetic enhancements and gameplay advantages. These artifacts can be earned through in-game challenges or obtained during exclusive events. They also have a presence outside the game as NFTs, offering players both a visual upgrade and practical in-game benefits like increased experience points and better loot chances.

Calamity’s on-chain systems run on the Ronin network, allowing players to own and manage certain in-game assets securely while keeping performance fast and transaction costs low. The core gameplay does not require NFTs, and you don’t need a wallet to start playing. The on-chain layer is there for players who enjoy building, trading, and managing long-term progression through the economy side of the game.
The first major collection tied to Calamity was the Artifact series, which later evolved into the currentDragon RingNFTs. Dragon Rings serve as legacy items that recognize early contributors and long-time players. They offer cosmetic flair along with access to certain staking and future reward pathways across the developing $WYRM economy, but they do not override the gear and skill progression earned directly through gameplay.

The second and more active layer is the Factory NFT collection, made up of 9,999 player-owned production spaces. Factories house Automata, which are worker units that help process materials and support the resource economy over time. Factories come in multiple tiers, and lower-tier versions can be merged into stronger ones through regular play and resource management. This makes them part of the long-term crafting and economy loop rather than a shortcut to power.
Latest Game Updates (2025)
Earlier in 2025, Calamity wrapped up its Play-to-Airdrop campaigns, with rewards going to players who took part in dungeon runs and beta progression events. Since moving into open beta, the game has introduced more guild-focused activities, making coordinated dungeon clearing and resource sharing a bigger part of the experience.
On the economy side, the Dragon Ring migration and Factory NFTs rolled out on Ronin, giving long-term players more ways to engage in the production and trading layer without affecting core combat progression. Seasonal updates have continued to tune weapons, bosses and drop rates, helping keep the meta and dungeon pacing feeling fresh as the game moves toward its next major update.
How to Get Started
Calamity is currently in open beta, and getting into the game is straightforward. You can download it either through the official launcher or directly from the Epic Games Store, depending on which platform you prefer. After creating an account and logging in, you’ll begin with basic gear and select your starting weapon path. Since your weapon defines your role and abilities, it’s a good idea to test a few options early on to find a combat style that feels right.
From there, you can jump straight into the first few dungeons, gather materials and gradually upgrade your equipment. Progress early on is skill based, learning enemy attack patterns, timing your abilities and managing spacing will help you move toward the more challenging PvE areas and eventual PvP encounters.
