Atia's Legacy is Axie Infinity's take on the oh-so-popular genre of MMOs, with the twist that your typical knights, warriors, and wizards are replaced by cute, sometimes beastly, sometimes fishy, maybe even mech-y or plant-y, Axies as they venture into Lunacia. The Atia's Legacy exclusive alpha playtest just went live for a select few players, and since we're one of the lucky ones who got in, we've got you covered on the basics through this ultimate beginner's guide.

Atia's Legacy: The Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Getting Started
The current playtest is limited to Mystic Axie holders and some content creators. If you’re one of them, go here and download the game on your mobile device (Android APK or iOS TestFlight). After installing, log in with your whitelisted email or wallet and enter the special access code that was sent before the playtest began. Once done, you’ll be on the home screen and ready to play.
Core Gameplay Loop
The current alpha test version comprises the basic core gameplay loop: Gather your squad of up to 5 Axies. You control their movements and positioning as a group, but each Axie has its own passive and active skills, gear, class, and stats. Then dive into classic MMO mobbing battles, facing hordes of enemies to farm loot (right now, the only drop is the game's currency, gold). Use this gold to draw better gear, reroll your Axie movesets, and build the strongest squad ever.

Atia's Legacy Town
Aside from mobbing, another feature is tough daily bosses that test your squad's strength to its limits, as you compete with everyone on who dealt the most damage.
Axies in Atia’s Legacy
Atia's Legacy callbacks to mechanics from the OG web3 game we know and love, Axie Infinity, by incorporating its Axies, but with MMO features. The Axie classes like Aquatic, Beast, Dawn, Bird, Mech, Plant, etc., still exist, each with their set of stats. But instead of OG Axie stats like speed and morale, they're replaced by Atia's Legacy MMO counterparts: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Willpower. Classes and stats are tied together, as specific classes excel at specific stats, e.g., Beast and Bug Axies usually have high STR (Strength).

Atia's Legacy Axie Stats
As you start, you'll get the starter Axie, Tripp, which you can immediately use to get mobbing. Once you farm 100 gold from mobs, open the shop and purchase another Axie to add to your squad. You can add up to 4 more, making a team of 5.To do this, head to the "Squad" section, click on open squad slots, and assign the Axie you want.

Atia's Legacy: Assign Axie to Squad
Aside from classes and stats, another callback to OG Axie Infinity is the Axie parts, where each of the 4 parts indicates passive abilities. These passives shape your squad's build, ranging from carry skills like adding critical strike chance or status effects, support skills like heals and shields, to tank skills like adding resistances.

Atia's Legacy Part Skills
A cool feature in Atia's Legacy is that you can build your Axie with the parts you like via the part reroll system. It lets you get parts that don't match your Axie's class, allowing flexible builds and promoting theory crafting, we'll discuss more in the next section.
Combat, Gear, and Shop
As you explore more of the map, higher-level mobs spawn (you can see the level beside their health bar). Survive as long as you can, farm as much gold as possible, and when you're happy with your loot, press the "Town" icon to head back and spend that juicy gold to improve your squad.

Atia's Legacy Combat
But how do you improve? Aside from filling your 5-Axie squad, the best way is to equip each Axie with gear. Like other MMOs, each Axie can equip up to 4: one weapon, one helmet, one armor, and one pair of shoes. Perhaps the most important gear is the weapon. In Atia's Legacy, the main weapon gear not only provides great additional stats but also improves basic attacks and gives an ultimate ability. This is where the fun of flexible builds shines. A big note: Any Axie equipping a ranged weapon becomes a ranged unit, even if it's supposed to be a tank. The main weapons are:

Atia's Legacy Weapon Skills
- Cannon: Ranged weapon, skills mix STR and INT dmg—great for STR-heavy caster carries that deal heavy AOE dmg.
- Bow: Ranged weapon, pure DEX stat sticks—great for backline carries that like DEX, attack speed, and crit.
- Staff: Ranged weapon, mixes STR dmg and WIL heals—great for mage carries and flexible heal/buff supports.
- Gauntlet: Melee weapon, mixes STR and DEX—great for melee fighter carries that like big AOE damage.
- Axe: Melee weapon, pure STR—great for fighter/bruisers that dive into mobs for max AOE dmg and crowd control.
- Sword: Melee weapon, mixes STR and DEX—great for melee fighters that blend skills with basic attacks.
On the other hand, the three defensive gears are basically stat sticks, but a deeper concept is gear rarities and random stats, which we'll cover next.
Shop, Part Reroll, and Daily Boss
The shop is located in town by interacting with NPC Xia (she’s on the upper left side of town). From the shop, you can buy Axies to add to your squad (note: available Axies already have specific parts/skills). The shop is also where you spend your hard-earned gold to buy gear, which we already talked about earlier.

Atia's Legacy Shop
You can choose which gear you want to buy under the specific tier you like, with Tier 3 being the highest. Higher tiers usually mean better base stats than the previous tier, but with a greater cost of drawing. This is where the gacha element we usually see in MMOs comes in for Atia’s Legacy.

Atia's Legacy Gear Rarity
Each gear you buy, regardless of tier, has its own rarity, with five rarities ranging from Common to Mythic. Another layer of randomness comes with the stats on each gear you pull. For example, you can get lucky and roll a max main stat for your weapon, or you can low-roll and end up with unusable stats, like healing on a carry weapon such as the bow. That’s basically the game loop: keep mobbing, keep improving your team, keep pulling gacha, and build the best Axie squad in Atia’s Legacy.
Another way to further min-max and build the perfect squad is by rerolling Axie parts. As said earlier, you are able to reroll parts from different Axie classes, even if they don’t match your current class. In town, talk to NPC Aoni for the reroll feature. Select the Axie you want to reroll parts on, and each reroll will require gold. If you don’t like the rerolled part, you can keep rolling or keep the old one you had.

Atia's Legacy Part Reroll
Another challenging content feature of Atia’s Legacy is daily boss fights. Here, you assemble your best squad to try and beat a super high-HP boss, dealing damage until either you defeat it or your team gets wiped out. Even if your squad is wiped, your score will still count toward the daily boss leaderboard based on the damage you dealt. Your position on the leaderboard before it resets will determine your gold prize.

Beginners' Tips and Tricks
That's basically all you need to get started in Atia's Legacy, but before we go, here are some essential beginner tips:
- Experiment on Builds: Atia's Legacy is wide open for creative builds. Try out every gear, figure out which classes they fit best, and explore team synergies. The current playtest makes farming currency easy, so you can quickly get the gold needed for drawing gear or rerolling parts.
- Every Class Can Equip Every Gear: Take note as you might not want your main tank holding a ranged weapon.
- Cheese with Ranged Weapons: Bows and cannons can effectively cheese mobs if you kite from max distance.
- Mobbing Strategy: When farming mobs, it helps to have one or two sustain/healer tanks for survival and AOE-heavy carries for damage.
- Use Edit Formation: Simple but important, place tanks in the front and carries in the back.
- Gears Are a Gacha Game with Random Stats: Save your gold for higher-tier gear.
And that wraps up our Atia's Legacy beginner's guide! Hopefully this gave you a solid first look at the game and a head start for when future playtests open up to more players. Build your best Axie squad, take down every mob you see, farm all the gold you can, and push your way to Axie... infinity.
