Overview

2040WORLD is a free-to-play, third-person shooter that combines PvP and PvE gameplay in an online multiplayer setting. Players control remotely operated, robot-like avatars and explore a massive space station discovered in 2040. Each session drops players into dangerous zones where the goal is to gather resources, engage in combat, and reach an extraction point before it’s too late.

Survival depends on quick decision-making and awareness of both enemy players and AI-controlled creatures that patrol the environment. Extraction points are limited and time-sensitive, making every encounter feel high-stakes. With features like customizable loadouts, class-based avatars, player-to-player trading, and seasonal events, 2040WORLD creates a gameplay loop that rewards smart planning and adaptability.

Game Lore

In 2040, scientists on Earth discovered something unexpected: a giant space station orbiting in deep space. The finding quickly drew the interest of three major corporations: United Tactical, Biostem, and T-REX Industries. Together, they developed technology that allowed operators on Earth to remotely control cybernetic bodies known as Avatars to explore the station.

Early expeditions uncovered strange alien ecosystems and unknown life forms, but something went wrong. The full details remain classified, and all official missions were halted. Years later, the station has become active again. This time, it is not corporate teams making the journey but independent operators and fortune seekers. As one of these players, you will enter hostile zones, set your own objectives, and deal with whatever challenges the station presents.

Gameplay and Features

Each session begins by dropping your avatar into a map with one goal: get in, gather resources, and get out alive. You will encounter both AI-controlled creatures and other players, all competing for the same loot and limited extraction points.

Extraction capsules appear only at specific times and locations. Calling a capsule creates noise that attracts nearby players, increasing the risk of being ambushed. Extraction is strictly a solo process, with each capsule allowing only one avatar to leave per activation.

Resource Hunting

The station is not only populated by players. Local creatures vary from neutral to extremely hostile, making conflict unavoidable. Some of the most valuable resources can only be obtained by fighting these threats. Learning mob behaviors, identifying their weaknesses, and acting quickly can help you secure loot before others do.

Classes and Avatars

Before entering a session, choose one of five playable classes:

• Survivor: Recovers health and endures longer in fights.
• Courier: The fastest class, ideal for tactical maneuvers.
• Marauder: Good at stealth and ambushes.
• Explorer: Efficient at gathering and carrying loot.
• Warrior: Gets stronger with every kill during a session.

Weapons, Armor, and Loadouts

In 2040WORLD, there is no single best build that works for every situation. Weapons, armor, and ammo types are balanced using a rock-paper-scissors system, with three main damage categories: light, heavy, and energy. Each type has strengths and weaknesses depending on what you are up against.

Auction and Player Economy

2040WORLD features a live in-game auction where players can buy and sell resources, weapons, and consumables using the game’s currency called AUR. Players earn AUR by trading with others or selling collected loot from their sessions. This currency can be used to purchase essential gear, battle passes, or additional avatars.

Each auction listing comes with a player-set price and a small listing fee. Once purchased, items are delivered to your Storage. If your Storage is full, the items are temporarily placed in a Depot, where they must be claimed before the timer runs out or they will expire.

2040WORLD is currently in the early stages of its development journey, having successfully conducted a few closed beta tests for its dedicated followers and those who registered on its website during open registration periods. The game is also coming soon to Steam, and players can add it to their wishlist to stay updated on the release.
