YAPYAP is not just about casting spells and messing around in the tower. The game has multiple monsters that can end a run fast, especially if players don’t know how each enemy behaves.
Some monsters are easy to deal with once spotted. Others are the kind of threat that forces players to stop, reset their position, and play carefully. This guide covers every monster currently in YAPYAP and the simplest ways to counter them.
Goblins
Goblins are one of the most common monsters in YAPYAP. They are not dangerous alone, but they become a problem when they swarm. If they trap a player in a corner or tight hallway, the run can end quickly.
The easiest counter is keeping them pushed back.
TheAero spell with the Wand of Winds is one of the best tools for Goblins since it creates space and prevents them from stacking on top of the player.
If the player has the Grotesque Wand, Fish-Yuk is the safest removal option. It turns Goblins into fish, which can be picked up and thrown into the abyss if there is an edge nearby. Even if there is no drop, Fish-Yuk still gives enough time to escape.
Guards
Red Knight Guards are one of the strongest monsters in YAPYAP. They can kill players in just a couple of hits, and they become even harder to manage when other monsters are active in the same area.
The most important thing with Guards is not fighting them head-on. It is controlling space and staying quiet.
Guards are attracted to voice noise, so loud mic input can pull them toward the player unexpectedly. Since they move slowly, the best strategy is looping around them using walls and objects to keep distance.
The Wand of Illusions is one of the strongest counters in the game. It gives players multiple ways to survive:
Float Oculus can take control of a Guard and move it away, or use it to attack other monsters
Echo Me creates a duplicate that distracts Guards long enough to escape
Players can also use Fish-Yuk to transform a Guard into a fish, but it does not last long. It is best used as a quick reset tool, not a long-term solution.
The Eye
The Eye is one of the most annoying monsters in YAPYAP because it often spawns in areas with limited room. It attacks from range and can shred health quickly if a player stays exposed.
The good news is that The Eye cannot move.
The best counter is breaking line of sight. Walls, pillars, and corners completely stop its attack. Once the player hides, The Eye disappears, though it usually comes back later.
The real danger is getting distracted by The Eye while another monster closes in. If The Eye spawns during a messy fight, it is usually smarter to reposition first before doing anything else.
Fish-Yuk can also work on The Eye, but the timing is short, so it is rarely worth the risk unless the area is already safe.
The Slime
The Slime is a slow gelatinous cube that does not deal much damage, but it can still ruin a run.
The main threat is getting trapped inside it. When that happens, movement becomes slow, and the player becomes an easy target for other monsters.
Slimes are usually easy to avoid, but they become dangerous when they block staircases, narrow hallways, or exits.
If a player wants to remove one quickly, the best option is the Piss-Yuk spell with the Grotesque Wand. Keeping a steady flow of noise increases the rate of urination, which helps defeat it faster.
Unlike several other enemies, The Slime cannot be turned into a fish.
Spider
The Spider is one of the scariest monsters in YAPYAP, and the best strategy is avoiding it whenever possible.
The biggest warning sign is sound. If players hear scuttling nearby, they should slow down and start checking corners carefully.
If a Spider cannot be avoided, the Wand of Fire is the best tool for dealing damage. Ignis Breath and Ignis Doom help, but the most useful spell is Ignis Legs, since it gives a speed boost that can save the run.
Fish-Yuk can transform the Spider into a fish, but the duration is extremely short. It is best used only as a moment to escape. Picking it up is not worth it.
Mimic
The Mimic is dangerous because it can disguise itself as the player or a teammate. It is one of the easiest monsters to fall for, especially when the team is already under pressure.
Once identified, Mimics are not hard to kill. Most damage spells work well against them.
Fish-Yuk is also a reliable counter. Turning a Mimic into a fish allows the player to throw it into the abyss if the map has an edge nearby. If not, the Wand of Fire can still burn it down quickly.
Gargoyles
Gargoyles are usually manageable, but they can catch players off guard.
They start as statues on the map and then suddenly activate. The biggest threat is the surprise, especially if the player is already dealing with other monsters.
The simplest strategy is treating every Gargoyle statue like it could be real. Stay ready, keep distance, and use Fish-Yuk if needed.
Like Goblins and Mimics, Gargoyles can be turned into fish and thrown into the abyss if the map allows it.
Time Ghost
The Time Ghost is not a normal monster. It is the game’s fail condition.
When the timer reaches zero, the Time Ghost spawns and instantly kills the entire team. There is no spell counter, no escape, and no way to fight it.
The only way to deal with the Time Ghost is extracting before time runs out. Players should always keep an eye on the timer in the top-left of the screen and stop taking risks when time gets low.
Tips & Tricks for Surviving Monsters in YAPYAP
Most YAPYAP monsters are not hard because they are tanky. They are hard because they punish bad positioning.
If players want the simplest survival plan, it comes down to a few basics:
Always keep an exit path open
Use walls and corners to break enemy line of sight
Use Fish-Yuk when the map has an edge nearby
Avoid loud mic noise around Guards
Never ignore the timer because the Time Ghost ends the run instantly
