The highly anticipated MMORPG from Endless Clouds, Treeverse, is now live on the Epic Games Store and Google Play for mobile devices (with an iOS version expected soon). With a reward campaign teased, now is the perfect time for new players to familiarize themselves with the game’s mechanics. The launch introduced new features not covered in our Treeverse Beginner’s Guide, so let’s walk you through getting started in the launch version, along with tips and tricks for mastering the weapons and combat system.
First, download Treeverse on your preferred device. The game is available on PC and mobile, and you’ll need an Immutable profile to log in.
At the start, Nicolo, an NPC, will guide you through the basics of crafting weapons and collecting resources like logs and metal ores, which are core elements of MMORPG gameplay. After completing his tutorial missions, you’re free to explore the world. To get a head start, it’s best to complete all available NPC side quests early on. These quests usually involve gathering basic resources or delivering items. To optimize your time, open the map (Lorwick Town) and check NPC icons. NPCs with available quests will have colored notifications. Accept as many as possible before heading out, many quests share similar objectives, allowing you to progress through multiple at once. One notable quest involves finding Mira. If you're having trouble locating her, she’s at the top-left of the map outside Lorwick Town, near a campfire.
Once the tutorial is complete and the initial quests are out of the way, the vast world of Treeverse is open for exploration. Like many other MMORPGs, the game revolves around dungeon crawling, defeating enemies for loot, and upgrading weapons and armor. As you venture outside town, you’ll encounter various dungeons, which can also be found by expanding the world map.
Each dungeon displays its recommended level, the types of monsters inside, and the loot that can be obtained. Currently, only boss-level monsters drop loot, which appears as a pouch on the ground that you can pick up. Loot is essential because it often contains monster cores, a key material for crafting better gear and upgrading weapons through Weapon Infusion.
Unlike traditional MMORPGs, Treeverse does not focus on leveling up gear through experience points. Instead, progression revolves around crafting higher-tier weapons and using the infusion system to enhance them. This system replaces standard gear upgrades, making crafting and loot collection an essential part of the game’s mechanics.
Treeverse offers a unique combat system that sets it apart from other MMORPGs. Each weapon class has its own attack pattern, and instead of using a traditional mana system, the game introduces an energy system. HP and energy do not regenerate over time, meaning you’ll need to rely on healing skills and consumables to restore health. Energy, on the other hand, is regained by landing auto attacks, creating a combat flow that requires balancing attacks and skill usage.
The Weapon Infusion system plays a major role in combat. Each weapon has three infusion slots, which allow players to unlock active skills as they progress. These skills add variety to combat, offering abilities like spread shots for bows, AOE stuns for hammers, team healing for staffs, and dashes for mobility. Infusions are unlocked through dungeon progression and require specific materials, often found as monster core drops. Infusions can also be leveled up to increase their effectiveness, adding an extra layer of customization to a player’s build.
Treeverse takes a different approach to weapon classes compared to most MMORPGs. Instead of locking players into a single class, the game encourages multi-weapon builds, allowing players to switch weapons mid-fight, opening up a unique take on MMOs. And with that in mind, you're probably thinking about which weapon to choose or which weapon best suits your playstyle.
For solo players, the go-to build is a main damage weapon (I prefer Greatsword or Sword and Shield) paired with the healing staff build. This setup provides stuns, sustain, and healing, making it easier to survive. Later on, you can even convert your staff into a DPS weapon, making it well worth upgrading.
When you level up, your character fully regenerates HP. Keep this in mind inside dungeons, if you're close to leveling up, killing a few more monsters can heal you instead of using a potion. A neat trick in the current version is using the "Unstuck" button in the settings to instantly travel back to town. Your character dies in the process, but since there’s no significant penalty (like reduced HP, lost gold, or dropped items), it can be used to your advantage.
You can exit dungeons without penalties, making it easy to farm XP by repeatedly clearing mob-heavy dungeons even if you can’t kill the dungeon boss. Early on, farm the Dire Wolf set from level 0-2 wolf dungeons to get a solid damage boost. Once you complete the set, you can try level 6-10 dungeons. You might not be able to kill the boss, but the mobs inside still give good XP. Since the Dire Wolf set lacks resistances, keep moving and use dashes to avoid taking too much damage. As you level up, you’ll unlock the Arcana set, which is a solid upgrade.
As you progress, the next best dungeons to farm are the Skeleton dungeons like "Immortal’s" and "Death is Sweeter". These dungeons feature Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Mages, which have predictable movesets. Skeleton Warriors do a multi-stab move, so dodge to the side and hit them when they’re vulnerable. Skeleton Mages fire three consecutive magic attacks that can be dodged by rolling, dashing, or just running. After that, they charge up a channeled attack in one direction, leaving them open for free damage.
For bosses with huge HP pools, the Greatsword's charged attack is a great way to chip away at their health. However, always save enough energy for a dash to reposition safely, especially against bosses like Bazaal, whose spinning attack covers a huge portion of the map and can be difficult to avoid.
Just like in other games, you can kite and lure enemies into better positions on the map to land more hits or extend their vulnerable state. However, be careful not to stray too far, as enemies can lose aggro and fully heal if they reset. While exploring dungeons, keep an eye out for treasure chests scattered around the map, as they often contain health potions. These can be especially useful when kiting bosses, allowing you to heal while keeping your distance. Since weapons and gear can be swapped mid-battle, setting up hotkeys in your inventory lets you switch quickly, making combat more efficient.
Getting through Treeverse’s early game comes down to choosing the right weapon, learning how to fight efficiently, and knowing when to farm for better gear. Whether you’re kiting enemies, swapping weapons mid-fight, or making the most of dungeon mechanics, these little tricks will help you level up faster and take on bigger challenges. Hopefully, this guide helped you get a better feel for the combat system and find a weapon that fits your playstyle. Thanks for reading, and have fun exploring Treeverse!
