The Real Americans - Roughneck Rumble

Introduction

The streamers are hung, the candles lit, and the suspiciously overcooked casserole is cooling. IT MUST BE GRANNY BETTY’S BIRTHDAY! But nothing ruins a birthday shinding like a never-ending onslaught of dastardly martians. Your mission: Lock, load, and decimate every martian in sight. And for the love of all that’s holy, don’t let them touch that casserole.

Overview

The Real Americans – Roughneck Rumble drops players straight into the Martians vs Roughnecks universe, a pulpy sci-fi setting where Texas survivors push back against a resource-hungry Martian invasion. The game is part of MvR Studios’ broader plan that spans animation, comics, and digital collectibles, so it plays like an entry point to a larger world rather than a standalone pitch. The studio presents itself as a hub for “animation, gaming, comics, collectables & immersive experiences,” and Roughneck Rumble sits on the “Play Roughneck Rumble” call-to-action alongside the franchise trailer and story pages. That framing makes the game easy to position for newcomers: jump in for a quick blast of action, then follow the threads into the shows, characters, and collectibles if the vibe clicks.

Game Lore

The Roughnecks are the last humans standing, a no-nonsense community of trailer park survivors descended from the hard-hitting oil riggers of Earth’s past. When the Martian invasions began, they didn’t run. They dug in and fought back.

At the heart of the resistance is the Badgers Family, a dirt-tough squad of misfits leading the charge against the alien threat. Big brother Jimbo Badger Jr. commands the crew with confidence, backed by his fearless younger brother Jimbob, who can drive, fly, or crash just about anything. Their little sister Coodles is sharp, unpredictable, and absolutely deadly. Just don’t call her ""baby.""

Backing them up are two legendary elders: Granny Betty Badger, the fierce family matriarch, runs Betty’s Bar, the trailer park’s saloon that doubles as a war room and bomb factory. She’s equal parts warm-hearted grandma and unhinged bouncer, just as likely to serve you chili as she is to knock you out with a wrench.
Pappy Merle Badger, the moonshine-brewing grandpa, claims he was abducted by Martians and now wears a sack over his head to hide what they did to his “gorgeous face.” His moonshine doubles as napalm, and every swig fuels another wild conspiracy theory - or another explosion.

Luckily for humanity, the Badgers are tougher than they look. This is one family that refuses to go down without a fight.

Gameplay and Features

In Roughneck Rumble, you play as members of the Badger family, the Roughnecks who have somehow ended up as Earth’s last line of defense. Each character brings their own attitude and role in the fight, but the goal is the same: keep the Martians away from home. The action plays out in third-person shooter, built around wave-based survival where the difficulty ramps up fast. Martians don’t trickle in slowly, they come in loud, in numbers, and in weirder forms the longer you last.

Your loadout is where the game’s humor and identity shine. Weapons range from stolen alien launchers like The Remediator to homemade hardware like The Pebble Dasher, a machine gun that looks exactly like something someone welded together behind a shed. Nothing is pristine, but everything hits hard when it needs to. The loop is straightforward: hold your ground, survive the next wave, grab what upgrades you can, and try to beat your best run.

Most of the fighting happens across familiar Roughneck territory, trailers, scrap lots, oilfield leftovers, and bar backyards. These aren’t heroic battlegrounds, but they feel lived in, and defending them gives each run a sense of place. With every wave, the noise goes up, the Martians get tougher, and the pressure to stay alive kicks in. It’s the kind of game where even a two-minute run turns into “okay, one more try” before you realize you’ve been at it for an hour.

NFTs and Blockchain

Roughneck Rumble ties into the wider Martians vs Roughnecks ecosystem, which originally began with a set of collectible characters. These include both the early 2D collection and the later 3D game-ready avatars that can be used across different experiences tied to the universe. If you own one of these avatars, you can bring that identity into supported games and events, making your character more than just a profile picture.

The game itself is also powered through YOM (Your Open Metaverse), a network designed to host web3 games through browser-based pixel streaming. In practice, this means players can start playing Roughneck Rumble instantly without downloading huge files. The blockchain side runs in the background, you only interact with it if you choose to use a linked avatar or take part in the collectible side of the ecosystem.

How to Get Started

Getting into Roughneck Rumble is pretty low-friction. The game can be launched directly from the official MvR website, and you don’t need a full install to start playing as the game plays smoothly on web browsers. Just follow the play prompt, load in, and you’ll be dropped straight into the first wave. If you’re new to the universe, the early rounds are a good way to get a feel for the weapons, movement, and pacing before things get hectic.

If you do own one of the MvR avatars, you’ll have the option to link your wallet or account to use it in-game when support is active. It’s mainly for visual identity, your character will look like someone who actually belongs in this world rather than a default stand-in. But if you don’t have one, no problem, the game works just fine with the starter characters, and the main focus is surviving waves and improving your runs.
