Farming in Starsand Island goes beyond planting seeds. Players manage growth times, unlock sprinklers, and eventually grow Everlasting Crops that keep producing indefinitely.
This guide covers how to start farming, the best crops, and strategies to optimize your farm.
Starting Farming
To start farming, complete the Farming proficiency quests with Graminova near the Happiness Seed Shop. These quests unlock tools and gradually introduce new crops as you level up.
The first tools you will need are a Hoe and a Watering Can. Both become available after the tutorial and can be crafted at your Worktable. Planting, watering, and harvesting do not cost stamina. Stamina is only used for clearing land or refilling the Watering Can.

Planting Your First Crops
Equip your Hoe and create farmland by pressing M1 on your property.
Select seeds and plant them in tilled soil.
Fill the Watering Can at the Hand Pump.
Water crops by holding M1 until the meter fills.
Return daily to water until harvest.
Crops start growing immediately after planting, so timing your sessions strategically helps optimize harvest times.
Best Crops to Grow
Choosing crops depends on goals: fast harvest for early money or slow-growing high-value crops.

Everlasting Crops
Everlasting Seeds produce crops that come back after every harvest. You can find some seeds through Islandpedia or quests. If you remove an Everlasting Crop, the game refunds the seed.
Senior Farmer tier unlocks the Eternal Blessings skill, which increases the chance of getting Everlasting crops from regular plants. This helps make your farm self-sustaining over time.

Sprinklers
Manual watering gets tedious. Sprinklers automatically water crops around the clock.
Better sprinklers need materials from Crafting progression, so advance both professions simultaneously.
Seeds
Early on, buy seeds from the Happiness Seed Shop. You can also get seeds from harvesting or quests.
Senior Farmer tier unlocks the Grinder, which converts harvested crops into seeds. Multiple Grinders help scale seed production if you want to expand quickly.
Cross-Breeding Flowers
Flowers naturally come in red, yellow, and blue variants. But with some strategic placement, you can create entirely new colors.
Place different colored flowers with an empty plot between them, and you'll have a chance at spawning a hybrid. The possible new colors include:
- Brown
- Green
- Orange
- Pink
- Purple
- Black (Sleep Lilies only)
Fertilizer and Growth
Fertilizer can speed growth or increase yield. Ripening Fertilizer shortens growth time. Yield Fertilizer increases harvest size. You can craft fertilizer with a Fertilizer Bag from Green Pasture Ranch or buy it at the Happiness Seed Shop.
Seasonal Tips
Each crop has preferred seasons. All-season crops like Grass, Wheat, Potato, Garlic, and Mountain Rice provide reliable income. Seasonal crops like Watermelon or Pumpkin give higher profit but need careful timing. Balancing all-season and seasonal crops helps maintain steady income and maximize profits.
