Collecting every mask in REANIMAL turns a tense survival horror run into a full completion hunt. There are 18 masks spread across multiple chapters, and many are easy to miss. Since players cannot backtrack to earlier sections, missing one means starting a new playthrough.
This guide covers all Reanimal mask locations, chapter by chapter, and explains the requirement for unlocking the Beneath The Masks achievement.
How Many Masks Are in REANIMAL?
You'll find 18 unique masks scattered across eight chapters. Some sit in plain sight waiting to be grabbed, while others require you to chase down fast-moving critters or solve environmental puzzles. Collecting every single one unlocks the Beneath The Masks achievement, a badge of honor for completionists.
Important
The Rabbit Head mask has a special requirement. You must find all five Hidden Statues during your playthrough before it appears in Chapter 7.
Where Are the Chapter 1 Mask Locations?
The opening chapter, Dead in the Water, hides three masks throughout the Mill and sewer sections.
Bird Head Mask
After crawling through the initial sewer tunnel, climb the ladder into the building. Work your way up using your companion's help until you reach a second ladder. Climb it, head left, and continue until you spot a door. Open it and squeeze through the cracked wall to reach an outdoor area. The Bird Head sits in a crate waiting for you.
Worm Head Mask
Once you complete the pipe platform puzzle, you'll enter a room with several lockers. The middle locker opens into a hidden bath area. Walk to the far right side of this room, and you'll spot the Worm Head lying on the floor beside a sink.
Conch Head Mask
When you discover the Draisine (handcar) missing its wheels, look for a door to the right. Continue down that path to find another door leading to a secret storage room packed with ammunition. The Conch Head rests next to a bench inside.
Tip
Use your lighter liberally in Chapter 1. Many crawlspaces and hidden passages become visible only when you illuminate dark corners.
Where Are the Chapter 2 Masks Hidden?
The Cleaning House chapter contains two masks in the village area.
Pig Head Mask
Enter the clothing store by lifting the garage door. You'll see a pair of mannequins inside. Head behind the counter and look for a crawlspace in the wall. Light your lighter to spot it easily. Crawl through to discover a room with the Pig Head sitting on a plate.
Cone Head Mask
This one requires the crowbar from the cinema. After obtaining it, return to the alley through the broken building on the right side of the main square. You'll spot a traffic cone creature scurrying away from you. Chase it down the street until you reach a building with planked-up entrance. Use your crowbar to break the planks, enter, and eliminate the critter with a few solid swings to claim the Cone Head.

Critter combat encounter
Where Are the Chapter 3 Mask Locations?
After the Flood contains just one mask, but it requires some combat.
Deer Head Mask
After escaping the Hotel by boat and chasing the Pelican, explore the area around the large cannon. Find the beach with ladders leading upward. Clear out the seagulls using your crowbar, then climb to the top. In the flower fields, walk to the far left until you spot a scarecrow. Attack it to knock off its mask, then quickly eliminate the critter that emerges. Grab the Deer Head from the ground.
Where Are the Chapter 4 Mask Locations?
No Shelter hides three masks within the Orphanage and clock tower sections.
Bucket Head Mask
Inside the clock tower room with petrified children, head to the far right and locate a crawlspace beneath a bookshelf. Enter it and watch a critter with a bucket flee toward the bottom left of your screen. Follow it back outside and defeat it to obtain the Bucket Head.
Crown Head Mask
During the spider kids combat encounter where one sits on a throne, keep your eyes on the kid wearing a crown. When the fight starts, he'll try to escape behind the throne. You need to eliminate him before he gets away. If he escapes, restart from the checkpoint. A few crowbar hits will drop the Crown Head for you to collect.
Plant Head Mask
After clearing the spider kids in the room with beds, you'll enter a corridor with floor gaps and side doors. Instead of progressing forward, walk back toward the camera and slip through a crack in the wall. Pull the Plant Head directly from the ground and put it on.
Where Are the Chapter 6 Mask Locations?
Nobody Left Behind contains four masks, including a pair of diving helmets.
Fish Head Mask
After solving the control room puzzle, descend the ladder and jump onto the beach. Head to the leftmost section where a critter wearing something fishy wanders around. Use your crowbar to defeat it and claim the Fish Head.
Package Head Mask
Once you destroy the large horse creature with the cannon, board your boat and navigate toward the ravine. Head right and you'll encounter naval mines blocking your path. Fire your harpoon to detonate them safely. Continue through to a small beach and pick up the Package Head waiting on the sand.
Diving Helmet Masks (x2)
After completing the diving suit sequence and helping a large animal, your characters remove their diving gear. Pick up both Diving Helmets one at a time. You'll hear a confirmation sound after grabbing each one, adding two masks to your collection simultaneously.
Where Are the Chapter 7 Mask Locations?
The Spoils chapter hides four masks across trenches and hospital areas.
Bush Head Mask
Just before entering the trenches during a tense moment, look right for a metal door. Lift it and crawl underneath into a hidden room. The Bush Head sits directly in front of you.
Mine Head Mask
At the trench entrance, after passing a soldier holding a shotgun, look for a broken wall on the right side. Shimmy through the crack to find the Mine Head inside.
Rabbit Head Mask
Continue through the trench past another soldier who clears the path with a grenade. On the left side, squeeze through a crack in the wall. The Rabbit Head appears here only if you've collected all five Hidden Statues throughout your playthrough. No statues means no mask.
Amphibian Head Mask
In the hospital's operating room (accessible after riding the elevator and using the crowbar on the doors), crouch under the desk on the right side. Crawl into the adjacent room to find the Amphibian Head.
Where Are the Chapter 8 Mask Locations?
Gas Head Mask
After obtaining the key from the shooting gallery (where you shoot hanging soldiers), interact with the oven outside the unlocked door. A critter bursts out and runs back toward the shooting gallery. This one moves too fast for crowbar attacks, so grab one of the nearby guns and shoot it down. Pick up the Gas Head from the ground.
Tip
The Gas Head critter is the fastest in the game. Don't waste time chasing it with melee, just line up your shot and fire.
How to Change Masks
Pause the game and open the Masks menu. Players can equip different masks for each character. Both characters can wear separate masks during co-op.
Collecting all 18 masks unlocks the Beneath The Masks achievement. Since there is no chapter select, players aiming for full completion should double-check each area before progressing.
