REANIMAL includes a hidden ending that only unlocks if players find five secret coffins across multiple chapters. Collecting all of them in a single run also unlocks the Friends Reunited achievement.
The key detail is simple but strict. All five coffins must be found in one continuous playthrough. Chapter select does not count toward progress. If a coffin is missed, the only option is to restart from Chapter 1.
This guide explains where each coffin is located and what to watch out for so players can secure the secret ending without starting over.
What Do You Need for the Secret Ending?
To unlock the secret ending in REANIMAL, players must interact with all five coffins during one full run of the game. Replaying chapters individually will not trigger the extra cutscene or the achievement.
The five coffins are located in the following chapters:

Coffin 1 – Chapter 1 Rail Yard
The first coffin appears in Chapter 1 during the Rail Yard section. After repairing the minecart and riding it across the long bridge, players should pay attention to the right side before entering the cave ahead.
Stop the handcar in the open area just before the cave. Get off and head right to find a traincar with an open door. Walk through it and exit out the front. The first coffin is waiting just beyond. Interact with it before continuing.
The traincar is easy to miss if moving quickly, so take a moment to explore the right side of the area.

Coffin 2 – Chapter 3 Hotel Basement
The second coffin is found in Chapter 3 during the flooded streets boat section. After picking up the harpoons, players will approach a hotel blocked by a mine.
Ignore the hotel entrance for now. Instead, steer the boat down the alley on the right side. Two mines block a hidden path along the left wall. Use the harpoons to destroy both mines and move through the opening.
Dock the boat and look for a glowing yellow door. Go inside, head down the stairs, and the second coffin will be at the bottom. Interact with it, then return to the main route.

Coffin 3 – Chapter 3 Hidden Cave Island
The third coffin is also in Chapter 3 and is easy to overlook. After leaving the flooded streets, players enter a large open area with a cannon in the center.
Circle around the cannon until reaching a dead end on the opposite side. A cave entrance is hidden there. Enter with the boat and prepare for an enemy encounter inside. Clear the enemy and continue forward until reaching a small beach. The third coffin is located there.
If this coffin is missed, it can be collected later in Chapter 6. It is the only coffin that offers a second chance.

Coffin 4 – Chapter 4 Orphanage
The fourth coffin is located at the end of Chapter 4 inside the Orphanage. Players enter a room where their companion is hanging from a rope above a hole. A wheel mechanism controls the rope.
Do not use the wheel immediately. Turning it ends the chapter and locks the coffin permanently.
Instead, walk toward the camera and move left to find a partially hidden door. Open it to enter a side room where the fourth coffin is located. Interact with it first, then return and use the wheel to finish the chapter.

Coffin 5 – Chapter 7 Military Hospital
The final coffin appears in Chapter 7 during the Military Hospital section. Move through the hallway where soldiers on hospital beds trigger explosions. When a wheelchair starts rolling nearby, stop and backtrack slightly.
An explosion will have opened a hole in the wall. Enter through it to find a bunker door. Rotate the outer handle completely to unlock it. Call the partner over if needed, then descend the ladder.
The fifth coffin is at the bottom. Interact with it to secure the secret ending.

What the Secret Ending Unlocks
After collecting all five coffins in one playthrough and completing the main story, an additional cutscene plays after the standard ending. This scene adds more context to the island and the characters.
The Friends Reunited achievement unlocks as the extra cutscene begins.
For players aiming to complete REANIMAL fully, tracking each coffin carefully during the first run saves time and avoids a full restart.
