Getting Started

To begin your journey in RavenQuest, visit the official website at RavenQuest.io and create an account. After logging in, click "PLAY" to download the game installer (currently available for Windows, with mobile support planned for the full launch). Once installed, you'll start by creating your character and completing a brief tutorial.

You can choose between male and female characters, and during the tutorial, you'll begin customizing your character's appearance by selecting various outfit color options. As you progress, you'll collect cosmetic materials to craft your own outfits. Character growth is divided between Legacy and Archetype levels, with Legacy representing your overall level, and Archetype levels specific to each class. There are eight Archetypes, and each must be leveled independently.

Before diving into the game, take a moment to adjust your settings. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the login screen to access options like full-screen mode, mouse-based movement, and targeting settings. Note that camera control is fixed, with no zoom options. As you advance, you might find it helpful to add extra skill bars or remap your hotkeys to suit your playstyle.

Archetypes and Classes

RavenQuest offers a rich class system with eight Archetypes and 56 potential class combinations. Archetype slots are unlocked at levels 1, 7, and 15, and by combining three Archetypes, you'll form a unique class. Don’t worry about choosing the perfect combination early on, as Archetypes can be swapped freely before level 20. Characters aren’t locked into a specific class, allowing you to experiment and switch between them at will.

Here are the eight Archetypes and their specialties:

  • Archery: Ranged physical area-of-effect damage, burst damage, and crowd control.
  • Witchcraft: Ranged magic, damage over time, debuffs, and crowd control.
  • Shadow: Melee physical damage, high burst damage, poisons, and mobility.
  • Wizardry: Ranged magical area-of-effect damage, high burst damage, and crowd control.
  • Spiritual: Ranged magic, healing over time, shields, and buffs.
  • Protection: Physical damage, party buffs, self-healing, and damage mitigation.
  • Holy: Healing, buffs, party boosts, and single-target magic damage.
  • Warfare: Melee physical damage, area-of-effect damage, self-healing, and mobility.

Movement and Controls

Movement in RavenQuest is intuitive and can be performed using WASD, arrow keys, or by enabling left-click movement in the settings. You can also navigate by clicking on the minimap. Interaction with objects and NPCs is done using the F key or right mouse button. For combat, use TAB to auto-target enemies or manually target them with the right mouse button. Once an enemy is selected and in range, your character will automatically attack. Skills can be quickly activated with hotkeys or the left mouse button.

Professions

RavenQuest offers 12 diverse professions, allowing players to focus on crafting or gathering skills that significantly enhance character development. Access the Professions menu by pressing "P." Engaging in these professions is essential for progression, and as you level up in each profession, you'll unlock better rewards and gain valuable experience. Professions are categorized into two main groups: crafting and gathering.

Crafting professions include:

  • Blacksmithing: Crafting weapons and heavy armor.
  • Carpentry: Building wooden equipment and structures.
  • Weaving: Creating fabric-based items and light armor.
  • Cooking: Preparing food that boosts stats and offers healing.
  • Breeding: Raising and breeding mounts.
  • Alchemy: Crafting potions and magical items.

Gathering professions include:

  • Mining: Collecting ores and metals for crafting.
  • Herbalism: Gathering herbs for potions and alchemical creations.
  • Woodworking: Chopping wood for carpentry.
  • Farming: Growing crops for cooking.
  • Husbandry: Managing livestock for breeding.
  • Fishing: Catching fish for cooking or trading.

To prevent market oversaturation, the Oversupply System limits the experience gained from these activities before prices increase. Each profession enters an Oversupply status after reaching a daily cap, reducing experience gains by 10% every two hours.

Quests and Game Progression

RavenQuest offers a wide variety of gear combinations, featuring three armor types—Plate, Leather, and Cloth—and 13 different weapon types. Players can gain set bonuses by equipping two or four pieces of matching armor. Gear customization is flexible, allowing for unique combinations, such as wearing Plate Armor while wielding a Staff.

Progressing in the game requires upgrading gear. To enhance your equipment, you'll need Infusions, items, and silver. The good news is that your upgrade progress transfers to new items, so you won’t lose your efforts when switching gear.

Quests are initiated by speaking to NPCs marked with exclamation points, scattered throughout the world map. These quests offer rewards like experience points, gear, accessories, and reputation. One notable quest chain, North Star, rewards players every 5 Legacy levels.

As you explore the world, you'll encounter Dynamic Events, which spawn randomly or after certain conditions are met. Participating in these events grants bonus XP, silver, and items. The more you contribute to an event, the better your rewards, so competing with other players is essential for maximizing your gains.

RavenQuest Economy and NFTs

Tradepacks are central to RavenQuest's economy, offering silver rewards and introducing a risk-reward system. The more dangerous the area where you deliver Tradepacks, the greater the rewards—but other players can attack and steal your goods. Tradepacks can be transported by foot, Moa (a mount), ship, or wagon.

Mounts are invaluable in RavenQuest, greatly reducing travel time. By advancing through the main story quest, you'll unlock your first Moa, as well as a wagon and ship. As you progress, you can upgrade mounts with new skills, equipment, and appearances. Moas can even be bred to enhance their stats and abilities. RavenQuest’s world extends to the sea, with naval battles and exploration adding to the game’s experience. Be prepared for pirates!

Beyond Tradepacks, RavenQuest integrates Web3 elements through its NFTs:

  • Lands (Estates): Land can currently be obtained through whitelist rewards from social campaigns. While the game is free-to-play, owning land offers significant advantages, such as being a top source of silver, convertible to $QUEST tokens. Landowners can build houses for various professions and rent out land to other players in exchange for $QUEST. Higher-tier land offers more production options and larger houses, serving as warehouses and safe spots during Tradepack transport.
  • Ravencards: These unique cards enhance skills through various combinations. There are 192 Ravencards available, which can be obtained through gameplay, leveling up, or quest completion. Currently, Ravencards are purchased with Dawn Essence, but this will shift to $QUEST upon full release. Press G to access the Ravencards menu and customize your build.
  • Cosmetics: Players can earn cosmetics for their character, ship, and Moa by collecting materials in-game. Cosmetics range in rarity from Common to Legendary, with Legendary items being extremely rare and challenging to obtain.

Reputation System and PvP

Earning Reputation Points in RavenQuest comes from interacting with NPCs, completing quests, and participating in dynamic events. These points unlock perks essential for your progression. However, be mindful of your choices when interacting with NPCs, as your decisions can influence which perks and NPCs become available later in the game.

PvP in RavenQuest is optional but highly rewarding. Participating in PvP increases XP gain and improves drop chances. Additionally, Tradepacks crafted and delivered in PvP-enabled areas are worth more, which naturally leads to conflict as players compete for higher rewards.

There are multiple PvP modes, including Arena, Guild Wars, Solo and Duo Rifts, and open-world skirmishes. Whether you prefer structured battles or spontaneous world PvP, there's plenty of action for everyone.

Gamers, that wraps up the first tutorial in our RavenQuest series. Stay tuned for more in-depth guides covering game mechanics, tips and tricks, and advice on selecting the right character build. We can't wait to see you in the game and share some unforgettable moments together!
