Rage effect is a first-person shooter game that is available to play on Elixir and runs on the Solana blockchain. It offers a variety of game modes including Team Deathmatch, Free-for-All, and Gun Game. Each lobby allows for a maximum of 10 players in a single game. While the game aims to be a realistic shooter, it falls short in terms of its mechanics and features.
As of writing, Rage Effect is still in its Beta phase, allowing players to create their own servers where they can battle against bots or set up custom matches with friends. If a server is open, other players can join and play together. The game also features a ranking system, where participating in matches helps raise your rank, and a leaderboard system to track progress.
Currently, the game offers three playable maps: Hell Street, Cerulean Cove, and Vertex. This is a significant limitation, but the graphics have improved noticeably, becoming more vibrant and polished compared to the earlier grainy and dull environments.
When it comes to gun mechanics, there are still some noticeable flaws. Aiming feels off, as bullets don't always land exactly where the crosshair is pointed. There seems to be a slight margin of error, requiring players to adjust their aim slightly to hit targets accurately. Recoil control has been improved, making weapons more manageable, but it still needs some fine-tuning. The biggest issue is with the sniper rifle scope, which appears grainy and blurry, making it difficult to precisely pinpoint enemies. While the sniper rifle itself is fine, the scope quality makes sniping feel frustrating. Grenade mechanics also need work—throwing grenades lacks precision, making long-distance throws unreliable unless thrown at close range.
The character classes include Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer, but they feel generic. There's no distinction between them beyond different weapon loadouts, as they lack unique abilities or equipment that could give each class a strategic role in matches.
The gameplay experience feels less competitive, mainly because there aren’t many human players available. Playing against bots doesn’t feel challenging, as their AI lacks competitiveness, and there’s currently no option to adjust difficulty settings. Hopefully, future updates will introduce a bot difficulty system to improve this aspect.
On the positive side, lag and glitches have been noticeably fixed, and all controls now function properly, making gameplay smoother than in previous builds.
Rage Effect has also launched a Beta version for mobile, and surprisingly, it performs better than expected. The player count is noticeably higher, making it easier to find matches. The graphics look solid, especially for a Beta test, and the game runs smoothly with properly placed on-screen controls. Unlike the PC version, there are fewer bugs and errors, and the overall polish makes the mobile experience feel more refined.
Rage Effect has made solid improvements since its earlier versions, especially in graphics, controls, and overall polish. The environments look more vibrant, and the game runs much smoother, with fewer bugs and lag issues. The mobile version, in particular, feels well-optimized, with a higher player count and a more refined experience compared to the PC version. However, the game still struggles with gun mechanics, as aiming doesn’t feel precise, and the sniper scope remains frustrating to use. The lack of distinct class abilities also makes the character system feel underwhelming, and the bot AI isn’t challenging enough to provide a truly competitive experience.
Despite these issues, Rage Effect is heading in the right direction. It offers a fast-paced FPS experience, and its ranking system and leaderboard add a sense of progression. If the developers can fine-tune the shooting mechanics, improve AI difficulty, and introduce more engaging class roles, the game could stand out in the Web3 FPS space. But as it stands, it still needs work to feel truly competitive and rewarding.
Rage Effect has come a long way, but it still has a lot of room for improvement. The game looks and runs better than before, and the mobile version feels surprisingly polished, but the core FPS mechanics still need work. Aiming feels off, the sniper scope need some adjustments, and the character classes lack depth, making the gameplay feel less engaging over time. If the developers can fine-tune the shooting mechanics, add more meaningful class roles, and expand content, Rage Effect has the potential to be a great Web3 FPS. For now, it still feels like a work in progress.
