In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, symptoms are the core mechanic that decides whether your quarantine survives or collapses. Every survivor that steps up to your checkpoint carries risk, and the only thing standing between safety and disaster is your ability to correctly identify what their symptoms mean.
Understanding Symptom Categories
All symptoms in Quarantine Zone fall into three functional categories. The game is built around these classifications, and every decision you make should follow them.
Good to Go - Symptoms that look alarming but do not indicate infection. Survivors with only these symptoms are safe to allow inside.
Possibly Infected - Symptoms that suggest infection may be present but are not confirmed. These survivors should be sent to quarantine for monitoring.
Infected - Symptoms that confirm infection. Survivors showing any of these must be denied entry immediately.
You should never treat symptoms in isolation unless they are clearly infected-level indicators. Most mistakes come from ignoring combinations of mild warning signs.
Good to Go Symptoms
These symptoms are confirmed by the game to be non-infectious. On their own, they do not pose any risk to your quarantine zone.
Yellow Eyes
Yellow eyes may look unsettling, but they are not connected to the zombie infection. This can represent genetics, fatigue, or environmental effects. If yellow eyes are the only abnormality and all vitals are normal, the survivor is safe to pass.
Freckles
Freckles are purely cosmetic. They have no infection relevance at any stage of the game. Survivors with freckles and no other symptoms should always be allowed through.
Bruises
Standard bruises appear as blue or purple discoloration and are smooth in texture. These indicate physical trauma, not infection. As long as bruises are not paired with necrosis, fever, or abnormal vitals, they are safe.

Possibly Infected Symptoms
This category represents the most dangerous decision-making zone in the game. These symptoms do not confirm infection, but they strongly suggest risk. Survivors with any of these should be sent to quarantine instead of being allowed entry.
Eye and Skin Indicators
Conjunctivitis
Red or irritated eyes without full red-eye infection signs. This can be a normal illness or an early infection indicator.Skin Cuts or Scratches
Cuts may be harmless injuries, but they can also hide early bite wounds or exposure points. If a cut cannot be clearly explained, treat it as suspicious.Red Bruises or Skin Irritation
These appear more inflamed than normal bruises and should not be confused with standard trauma.

Temperature and Pulse Ranges
Vital signs are one of the most reliable early indicators of infection.
Elevated vitals can come from stress, exhaustion, or early infection. The game treats this range as uncertain rather than safe.

Respiratory and Behavioral Symptoms
The following symptoms are inconsistent by design. Sometimes they mean nothing. Other times they are the start of a collapse.
Sneezing
Hiccups
Coughing
Sick or strained breath
Mild breathing irregularities
Any one of these alone is not a death sentence, but they should never be ignored. Quarantine exists for this exact reason.
Neurological Warning Signs
When tested with the reflex hammer, the survivor reacts too strongly or too quickly. This suggests early neurological interference. Hyper reflex is not a confirmed infection sign, but it is one of the strongest reasons to quarantine someone even if their vitals look normal.
Infected Symptoms
These symptoms confirm infection. Survivors showing any one of these must be denied entry immediately. Quarantine will not help at this stage.
Visual Infection Markers
Red Eyes - Full red-eye discoloration is a late-stage infection sign.
Green Skin - A sickly green tone indicates systemic infection.
Necrosis - Dead or rotting tissue. This appears dry, cracked, and dark, not smooth like bruising.
Bite Mark - A visible bite wound is absolute confirmation of infection.
