<p>Mojo Melee is the first game within the Planet Mojo metaverse, and it puts a unique spin on the traditional auto battler genre. What most players are used to is having 100HP and building a team composition with what you are given to try and eliminate everyone till you are the last one standing. Well, what makes Mojo Melee unique is the option to prepare your team and select the units you want to appear within your shop in-game and the format of Mojo Melee itself steers away from the 100HP towards a group stage and knockout formula.</p>

<h2>Gameplay</h2>
<p>Mojo Melee offers a dynamic gameplay experience that revolves around assembling formidable teams and engaging in intense battles. The foundation of this experience lies in the strategic aspect of Team Building, where players must carefully select and organize their champions to optimize their chances of success. Players can assign various Roles to their champions, including Damage Dealer, Brawler, Tank, and Caster, each with a distinct set of abilities and strengths.</p>
<p>Each match within a tournament involves a planning phase where a player can upgrade and deploy their team. When the combat phase begins, players sit back and watch their teams fight it out.&nbsp;Matches are made up of rounds. At the start of each round, players gain gold. This gold can be spent to purchase champions or spells offered to you in the shop based on your pre-selected team prior to queueing up.</p>

<p>Among the roles available, Damage Dealers like Dawn Striker and Dark Brightley shine as offensive powerhouses, inflicting heavy damage on opponents. On the other end of the spectrum, Tanks like Brooka Clawhaven and Batakamus Rex step into the frontline, excelling at absorbing incoming damage and protecting their teammates.</p>
<p>To enhance the tactical depth of battles, Mojo Melee introduces SpellStones, which are pivotal tools that can turn the tide of battle. Season 2 brings an array of new SpellStones like Haste and Chaos, each introducing unique strategic elements to the gameplay. SpellStones like Mojosynthesis and MojoPortal open up avenues for victory by granting players advantageous effects during battles.</p>
<p>During combat, units gain energy by attacking and taking damage. Each unit has a special ability that they will use once their energy is fully charged. Special abilities have a wide range of effects that can change the tide of battle. Once you have taken out all your opponent's champions, you have won the round. The group stage has 3 rounds, and if you win 2 of them, you make it towards the knockouts.</p>

Triumphing in battles allows players to progressively upgrade their teams of Mojos and Champions, unlocking new abilities, enhancing stats, and unlocking additional strategic possibilities. As players rise through the ranks, they earn valuable Ores and Badges, reflective of their accomplishments and prowess on the battlefield.</p>
<h2>Season 7</h2>
<p>With the launch of Season 7: Leaves of Legend, Mojo Melee opens a new chapter filled with thrilling content and strategic possibilities. The Season 7 BattlePass introduces a refreshed competitive landscape, offering exclusive rewards like the return of Rackmor Voortom, a hero many have been eager to see again since Season 4. Alongside him comes a brand-new fall-themed skin, allowing players to showcase their style as they progress through the ranks.</p>
<p>To maintain a balanced and fair competition, Rank Progress and Trophy Count have been reset, ensuring all players start on equal footing. This reset sets the stage for exciting new challenges and opportunities to demonstrate skill and strategy in the evolving arena.</p>

<p>Planet Mojo offers an auto-battler gaming experience set inside a rich new world where players can operate with their customized teams. The games take place on a stunning, exotic alien planet where fierce creatures battle to preserve their homes and their natural world from an invasive technological force known as the Scourge. Players compete in a variety of PvP games and tournaments as a larger story and secrets are unveiled.</p>

<h2>Gameplay</h2>
<p>Clans are an integral part of Planet Mojo’s lore and give each character you see in the game relevancy and purpose. The Great Wars of the past are a distant memory, and most are now focused on rebuilding and surviving. The six clans represent the different regions Planet Mojo characters come from, varying from tanky frontline warriors to backline archers and mages.</p>
<p>The first 6 Champion classes are Paladin, Assassin, Warrior, Berserker, Shaman, and Cleric, with many more to be added as the game expands and develops. Prior to queueing up, players need to form their team. You are prompted to choose one Mojo, 4 Champions, and 2 spells to take with you into battle.</p>

<p>Once you make your selection, you have two modes to choose from. A traditional 1-versus-1 or an 8-player group stage and knockout tournament style competition. The latter is much more enjoyable and showcases the game’s different elements. Once the game starts, you have your Mojo on the board, Gold, and 3 randomized options to choose from in the shop that are from your pre-selected team.</p>
<p>The Mojos are plant-based magical creatures sprouted from “Moj-Seeds”. The latter is available for purchase through&nbsp;<a href="https://opensea.io/collection/moj-seed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Opensea</a>&nbsp;considering its mint has finished as of the time of writing. Each Mojo in-game is basically your main unit, and have distinct abilities depending on their form.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are four forms; Leafy, Flower, Vines and Moss, with the potential to see more in the future. From our hands-on time with the development team, the Moss Mojo has an ability that damages enemies and heals allies within its parameters for example.</p>
<p>They will be more integral to Planet Mojo’s entire ecosystem later on with plans to release Mojo&nbsp;Melee and Planet Mojo’s land-based game called Mojo Land, plus more potential games in the future.</p>
<p>It is worth to keep in mind the auto battler genre in web3 gaming has serious contenders, with the most prominent being&nbsp;Illuvium&nbsp;so Planet Mojo already has work to do to keep up with its competition.</p>
<h2>Review</h2>
<p>Our time in the multiple Planet Mojo private playtests gave us tons of confidence in the development of a web3 all-star in the auto-battler genre. The team carefully crafted each Mojo and Champion to have unique abilities that force players to strategically select who they want to take with them into battle while creating their team.</p>
<p>The group stage and knockout tournament style is a new take on the genre that is used to the 100 HP round-robin formula to determine the winner. Planet Mojo’s approach makes for much faster games that keep you on your toes at all times or else you are out.</p>
<p>Although the game is still in its Alpha phase, some of the missing elements are actual synergy between units since at the moment there is nothing stopping from just chucking random units on the board. Another element is the little to no punishment when selling a unit already on the board, which is a huge element that always keeps players thinking twice before making a decision in Teamfight Tactics for example.</p>
