Overview

Phantom Galaxies' gameplay is akin to popular games such as Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen where the player flies through space and attacks pirates as well as walking through the stations where you acquire quests and handle your trade. Phantom Galaxies has managed to take the good from both of these concepts to create an astonishing experience for every player who has dreamt of captaining a spaceship and creating havoc in space.

The game begins with the player choosing a character with limited availability of choice between male and female without personalization features. Afterwards Captain Olsen, who will take them through their tutorial by making them choose a Starfighter, will greet the player. The player has a choice of two Mecha’s at the beginning which are: The Locke, an assault class Starfighter, and the Kierkegaad, a Buster class Starfighter. There are also two further classes that can be purchased later in the game.

When travelling and battling you will be able to change form from Starfighter to Mecha that sacrifices movement speed for increased damage resistance as well as changing from energy and explosive weapons to the classes’ special weapon and explosive weapons. For some classes the player has to be in Mecha form to be able to activate their special ability.

Now that we have gotten the essentials of the game mechanics out of the way, it is time to dive into our Phantom Galaxies guide, each class and their abilities are broken down below:

Assault Class Starfighter, The Locke

A versatile class in Phantom Galaxies with a balance of speed and armor that specializes in medium range Automatic weapons dealing medium damage. This class is great for those who like the ability to change up mid flight and go from medium range combat to close combat. What makes the Assault class special is the ability to use special swords and axes, which give the player an amazing experience of what a Transformer with lightsabers. The melee damage dealt in this mode is enormous and can slay enemies quickly, beware though, as this can also make more vulnerable to damage.

Another special ability available for this class in both Starfighter and Mecha mode is the option to have a drone assist you, this helps in dealing with multiple enemies. Once the drone has consumed its time destroying opponents it needs a cooldown before being able to be activated again.

Buster Class Starfighter, The Kierkegaad

A heavy and slow class in Phantom Galaxies that carries enormous damage using heavy weapons whilst offering robust defence. This is the perfect class for players who rather get right into the brawl and fight fire with fire and creating havoc across the space. The special ability that makes the buster class unique is called Berserk Barrage, which sends out missiles in a wide radius incinerating your enemies.

The special weapons that are available to the buster class are Rail guns as well as Lightning guns. The rail gun deals a high amount of damage using high-velocity rounds whilst the Lightning gun scorches enemies using lightning bursts.

Breacher Class Starfighter, The Kant

A melee specialist class in Phantom Galaxies with high quality armor and speed, which lacks the handling seen in the Assault class. This class is perfect for boss and one to one fights where the player can focus on a singular enemy and perform high damage attacks.

The Breacher’s special ability is named Plasma Burst, it charges and unleashes an almighty beam of high damage plasma from the Starfighters chest. The two special type of weapons available to the Breacher class are submachine guns and claws. The submachine gun deals overwhelming damage to close-by enemies by unleashing a wild barrage of gunfire whilst the Claws can be equipped for when you get close to the enemy thus is very effective against armoured opponents.

Lancer Class Starfighter, The Lancer

The Lancer class is a long-range, light style of Starfighter that avoids missiles and melee assaults by dealing damage using its sniper weapons. However, while this class deals a tremendous amount of damage it has very light armor so make sure you stay far away from enemies.

A special ability that the Lancer class is able to use is called Stun, which lives up to its’ name allowing you to stun enemies meaning you can pile on the damage or flee. Another speciality of the Lancer class is the ability to use an Invisibility cloak, which can be used to travel underneath your enemies nose or flee in times of need. The extra weapons available to Lancers are Sniper and rail guns that are mainly energetic weapons.

Weapons and Injectors

When playing Phantom Galaxies you will come across three main types of weapons: Energy, Ballistic and Explosive. The energy weapons will zap your energy, which is also required to perform evasive maneuvers but also have unlimited ammunition. Ballistic and Explosive weapons on the other hand require ammunition in the form of bullets and warheads that take up cargo space. The ammunition for those two types of weapons can be bought using the Interfaces in space stations as well as being picked up from defeated enemy wrecks.

This brings us to the other type of consumables that you will come across in your space travels, injectors. There are three types, which are Energy restorers, Armor repairers and Shield amplifiers. These can also be purchased using Interfaces that are found in the space stations or are dropped by defeated enemies. However, they need to be activated by pressing X, Z right next to the special ability (C) and depending on your requirements you can assign which injector is on X or Z.

It is essential for the player to learn these keys quickly as they will not be able to use the mouse to click them as the mouse is used to aim the path of your Starfighter. All of these injectors are applied gradually meaning the player should think ahead of time when using them, especially using the clues through the warnings given to you by your Starfighter letting you know when shields are low and its’ armor is heavily damaged.

Mining

There is the option for a Phantom Galaxies player to conduct mining activities by using the mining laser that comes equipped with all Starfighters. This can easily be done by activating the laser pointed at an asteroid whilst being in a short to a medium range from it. However, be aware not to be too close as the asteroid can split when mining it and the parts can collide with you Starfighter causing damage.

The materials gained from mining can be used to craft items that can modify your Starfighter when the game is fully released.
