Crimson Wolf is the current yearly competitive weapon variant in Overwatch. It features a Talon-themed red finish and is tied directly to Competitive Play. Unlocking it is simple in theory, but it requires a steady grind in ranked matches.
Here is exactly how it works.
How To Get Crimson Wolf
To unlock Crimson Wolf in Overwatch, a player must spend 3,000 Competitive Points for each hero.
The unlock is not account-wide. If someone wants Crimson Wolf for multiple heroes, they must pay 3,000 Competitive Points per hero in the Hero Gallery. Once purchased, the weapon variant can be equipped like other weapon cosmetics.
Only current Competitive Points can be used to buy Crimson Wolf. When the yearly competitive reset happens, leftover points are converted into Legacy Competitive Points. Legacy points cannot be used to purchase the current year’s weapon variant. Because of that, players need to unlock Crimson Wolf before the next annual reset.

How To Earn Competitive Points
Competitive Points are earned by playing Competitive mode matches.
In Competitive Play:
Win a match: Earn Competitive Points
Draw: Earn fewer Competitive Points
Stadium wins: Yield more Competitive Points per win than standard mode
How Long It Takes
Reaching 3,000 Competitive Points takes time. Even with consistent wins, it requires many matches to reach the total for a single hero. Because of that, Crimson Wolf is best treated as a long-term reward while climbing ranked rather than something to rush in a short session.
The most practical approach is to play Competitive regularly each season. The points will build naturally over time, and once 3,000 is reached, the weapon variant can be unlocked instantly for the chosen hero.
That is all there is to it. Play Competitive, stack 3,000 Competitive Points, and purchase Crimson Wolf in the Hero Gallery before the yearly reset.
