Yuga Labs has announced the release of Bathroom Blitz, a new 8v8 third-person shooter launching on its Otherside platform later this week. The game aims to further develop Otherside’s user-generated content (UGC) ecosystem and provide a functional example of what is possible using the platform’s development tools. According to the Bored Ape Gazette, Bathroom Blitz is expected to roll out in the coming days, with early access already being extended to select community members.

Bathroom Blitz is set entirely within a single map designed to resemble a bathroom, with players appearing significantly smaller in scale compared to the environment. The game is structured as a team-based deathmatch, offering 8v8 third-person shooting mechanics.

It was developed by Command Line, a studio founded by CryptoVonDoom, a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). The development team has used Yuga’s Otherside Development Kit (ODK) to build the game, aligning with Yuga Labs’ strategy of fostering independent development within its ecosystem.

Command Line’s founder expressed enthusiasm about introducing the game to the community, noting that the initial release will serve as an early preview ahead of broader access. The limited rollout is intended to generate early feedback and engagement, while the full opening of the game is planned for the following week.

The release of Bathroom Blitz reflects Yuga Labs’ ongoing commitment to a web3-centric model that emphasizes decentralized content creation. Otherside, Yuga’s metaverse platform, is designed to serve as a collaborative space where users and partner developers can build games and experiences tied to a shared narrative.

The platform is powered by ApeCoin and structured around the idea that UGC can serve as a foundational element of virtual world development. Greg Solano, also known as Garga and one of Yuga’s co-founders, has been involved in shaping the direction of Bathroom Blitz.

In a recent Discord AMA, Solano highlighted the potential of UGC in gaming and underscored the advantages of using web3 infrastructure. He stated that web3 rails are better suited for scalable and flexible game development than traditional web2 models, pointing to modding and community-driven tools as key growth drivers for the industry.

Yuga Labs intends for Bathroom Blitz to be one of many experiences that form part of a broader narrative universe. These elements are designed to connect various projects built within Otherside, encouraging cohesion among different user-generated experiences.

In addition to launching the game, Yuga Labs is preparing to release its developer toolkit to holders of Otherdeed NFTs. The toolkit will enable more creators to access the tools needed to build content on Otherside, further encouraging community participation and expansion of the platform.
