Youmio introduces the first Layer 1 blockchain for AI agents, developed on Avalanche to support scalable and transparent infrastructure for autonomous digital agents.
Youmio has officially launched the first Layer 1 blockchain network dedicated to AI agents, selecting Avalanche as the foundational platform. This development marks a step forward in the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, offering infrastructure designed specifically for intelligent digital agents. By using Avalanche, Youmio benefits from a scalable and fast environment that supports real-time coordination among AI entities across decentralized applications and online spaces.

Youmio’s blockchain is not intended for general-purpose use. It has been built from the ground up to support autonomous AI agents that can learn, evolve, and perform tasks independently. These agents are designed to operate with their own identities, wallets, and metadata, giving them the tools required to act across web3 applications, games, and platforms.
Unlike traditional applications where agent behavior remains opaque, Youmio allows creators to mint agent actions as cryptographic proofs, providing an auditable and verifiable trail of activity on-chain. Each agent operates with a modular skillset, and its profile can adapt over time.
This structure enables a transparent method for tracking behavior and decision-making, addressing growing concerns around AI accountability and control. The system allows for secure management of agent data while maintaining flexibility for developers building new digital experiences.

Avalanche was chosen as the host network for Youmio’s infrastructure due to its performance, scalability, and compatibility with custom blockchain deployments. Avalanche currently supports over six million funded wallets and sees more than three million active users each month. Its consensus mechanism delivers rapid transaction finality, which is essential for enabling AI agents to act and respond in real time.
The platform also allows developers to create independent Layer 1 chains through its Layer 0 architecture. This flexibility supports the design of networks like Youmio’s that have distinct technical and operational requirements. The integration ensures that AI agents can operate at scale without sacrificing speed or reliability, an important factor in supporting widespread agent use.

As artificial intelligence tools become more widely used, the infrastructure supporting them becomes increasingly important. Many AI systems today are controlled by private companies, raising questions about transparency, data ownership, and user control. Youmio aims to address these concerns by placing agent identity, memory, and decision-making processes on a public blockchain.
Michael O’Connor, co-founder and CEO of Youmio, emphasized the importance of open infrastructure. According to O’Connor, AI agents represent a new interface layer between humans and digital systems, and without a decentralized foundation, they risk becoming closed and unverifiable. Youmio’s approach gives users control over their agents’ actions and privacy settings while ensuring that each decision made by an agent can be traced and understood.

Youmio’s first major release is a tool for creating 3D AI characters known as Mios. These characters are designed to function as intelligent agents that can carry memory, learn from experiences, and act across different environments. Each Mio can be customized with personality traits and assigned specific roles such as trader, gamer, or influencer. Once created, a Mio can move between platforms while retaining its behavioral data and characteristics.
The project introduces a new token structure that allows a single token to represent a collection of agents rather than a one-to-one link. This enables developers to build networks of related agents and apply coordinated behavior and incentive models across them. It also supports the development of more complex systems where agent interaction and utility can be measured and rewarded.

Youmio is also contributing to the broader ecosystem of AI infrastructure through its involvement in the Avalanche Foundation’s InfraBUIDL(AI) program. The $15 million initiative supports AI-focused projects building on Avalanche. Michael O’Connor has joined the program’s investment committee to help identify and guide projects aligned with this mission.
As part of its role, Youmio will assist other builders in accessing funding, development tools, and ecosystem support. The goal is to accelerate the adoption of agent-based applications and ensure that a robust foundation is in place for future innovation in the AI and web3 space.
Youmio Joins Forces with Avalanche
Youmio’s team initially entered the web3 space through a social simulation game called Today The Game. In early 2025, the team shifted focus to infrastructure and rebranded as Youmio. This change reflected a deeper commitment to developing foundational tools for AI agents, with a focus on autonomy, traceability, and transparency.
The new platform extends beyond gaming, offering a system where agents are no longer passive entities but instead become active participants in a decentralized ecosystem. By linking actions to on-chain records and embedding privacy controls within user-owned wallets, Youmio addresses key challenges related to trust and verification in AI systems.
Youmio Joins Forces with Avalanche
Avalanche remains a central enabler of Youmio’s platform. Its network architecture allows the deployment of custom Layer 1 blockchains tailored to specific needs. This approach ensures that each network benefits from Avalanche’s shared security and performance while maintaining operational independence.
The Avalanche Foundation plays a supportive role by providing funding, developer tools, and community resources. As a non-profit, its focus is on promoting innovation across the ecosystem and ensuring long-term sustainability for projects like Youmio.
