Yolo.ex, a sci-fi story-driven decentralized finance (DeFi) trading game, has officially launched via the Epic Games Store after a period of early access that began in February. Participants take on the role of a new recruit who joins a trading firm, navigating a world shaped by financial strategy and science fiction storytelling. The game plans to release seven episodic chapters over time, each designed to advance the narrative and provide deeper engagement. Although initially targeted at crypto traders, Yolo.ex is free-to-play and does not require players to own or purchase any digital assets to begin participating.

Alan Gibbons, founder and CEO of Yolo.ex, outlined the project’s objectives by stating that the team sought to explore the concept of a gaming frontend for crypto markets. Gibbons explained that the collaboration between game developers and high-frequency traders led to the creation of what he described as an experiential "Markets 3.0" environment. This marketplace model allows players to take ownership of their digital assets while participating in market activities within the game.
