YGG Play Summit Showcases Top Innovation

The YGG Play Summit in Manila has become a central hub for the web3 gaming community, offering panels, live demos, and esports tournaments for creators, developers, and players. The event featured live recordings of two notable web3 gaming podcasts, Gamified and LOL Lounge, where discussions focused on growing audiences, sustainable content creation, and the evolving landscape of web3 games.

The LOL Lounge episode included YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon alongside GamingGrid co-founder YellowPanther and Gaming Daily founder Iceyyy. Hosted by Leah Callon-Butler, director of web3 investment and advisory firm Emfarsis, the conversation centered on strategies for building audiences organically. Panelists emphasized the importance of providing consistent value to communities over pursuing short-term growth. They also explored how creators can balance content production with business planning to sustain long-term careers in web3 gaming.

Gamified, hosted by Sam Steffanina of the web3 gaming collective WolvesDAO, brought together a larger panel, including Iceyyy, Payton Kaleiwahea of WolvesDAO, Omar Ghanem of GAM3S.GG, Kohji Nagata of Parallel, Jerry Singer of The Jerry Foundation, Oliver Maroney of OpenSea, Michael Christine from Andrometa, Matthew Buxton of WARP, Hantao of Moku, and Dub of GlitterCloud. Discussions included debates over whether Football.fun qualifies as a web3 game, the proper terminology for the industry, and the potential success of Planet-X’s new chain Gallaxia.

Industry Trends Highlighted in Town Hall Panels

Town Hall panels suggested that web3 gaming is entering a phase that emphasizes execution and sustainability over experimentation. Experts noted that the next stage of the industry is likely to be built on established chains, reliable distribution platforms, and economic models designed for long-term growth. The shift reflects a broader industry focus on practical development and audience retention rather than rapid innovation alone.

Live Demos and Esports in the City of Play

Outside the panels, the City of Play was active with attendees exploring the Player District and Degen District. Visitors had the opportunity to try out popular web3 titles and rising games such as Pixels, LOL Land, Aurory’s Amiko Legends (formerly Seekers of Tokane), GIGACHADBAT, and Last Odyssey.

The Arena stage hosted Ubisoft’s Might & Magic: Fates Invitational, where YGG Esports player Tyler claimed the top prize of US$1,500 from a total US$5,000 pool. The competition featured seven other trading card game professionals and streamers. Additional game demos on the Arena stage included Spekter Agency, Cambria: Gold Rush, and Aurory’s Amiko Legends.

YGG Pilipinas also launched ARC Quests, interactive challenges designed to guide attendees through the City of Play. Sponsors for the quests included Sky Mavis, Ubisoft, Spekter Games, Moonshot, Juice Gaming News, Pixels, GiG, Sui, Aurory, Parallel, Vibes, Coins.ph, Cambria, DWF Labs, and Realgo. Participants completing the challenges were able to claim merchandise at the ARC Booth, encouraging both exploration and engagement.
