Yield Guild Games (YGG), a leading web3 guild protocol, has announced its partnership with Parallel TCG for an exciting event at the upcoming YGG Play Summit in Manila, Philippines. This collaboration will bring a $100,000 prize pool tournament featuring the popular web3 card game, Parallel TCG. The tournament, which will take place during the YGG Play Summit from November 19-23, 2024, is expected to attract top players from around the globe.
The YGG Play Summit, one of the largest events for the web3 gaming community, will not only feature the Parallel TCG tournament but also host the first-ever in-person GAM3 Awards ceremony, a cosplay competition, live game demos, and high-stakes show matches of the latest web3 games. This multi-faceted event will be held in the bustling district of Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Metro Manila, and is set to be a significant gathering for gaming and blockchain enthusiasts alike.
YGG Partners with Parallel for $100k Tournament
The road to the YGG Play Summit will begin with two global online qualifier tournaments, scheduled for October 12-13 and October 26-27, 2024. Both qualifiers will grant participants Parallel League points, with each qualifier hosting up to 128 players. Competitors will face off in a Best of 3 Conquest format over seven rounds of Swiss play on the first day.
On the second day, the top 8 players will advance to a single-elimination bracket, battling for their spot in the Manila finals and further Parallel League points. From these qualifiers, a total of 16 players will earn the chance to compete in the main event at the YGG Play Summit, with the opportunity to claim their share of the $100,000 prize pool. Gabby Dizon, co-founder of YGG, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating:
“TCG players have always been passionate about the games they play, and many look for opportunities to test their skill at a high-stakes competitive level. Parallel is in a very good position to cater to these players, with many of its mechanics inspired by competitive TCGs such as Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone."
Parallel $100k Tournament
To build excitement leading up to the YGG Play Summit, YGG is engaging its community through various promotional activities. YGG key opinion leaders (KOLs) will host giveaways and share content across platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Discord, offering players insights into Parallel TCG’s mechanics and strategy. The YGG Facebook group “Everything Parallel” will also organize contests and post content to engage fans and new players.
Additionally, YGG’s YouTube channel features educational videos, including deck guides, aimed at helping players improve their skills ahead of the tournament. Parallel TCG co-founder Kalos expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting: “We saw an opportunity to bring a unique experience to current players and newcomers. We will be able to emulate that feeling of playing with other people in a card shop while also showing them the advantages that web3 offers through Parallel TCG."
Gamer Testing Out Parallel
Yield Guild Games is not only organizing the tournament but also fielding a competitive web3 esports team for Parallel TCG. The YGG lineup includes former Hearthstone players Tyler, Sequinox, and Chris Tsako, who have already made significant strides in the Parallel TCG rankings. YGG’s esports captain, Disi, is one of the top players in the game, while YGG’s Head of Esports, Mike Ovecka, who previously worked at Blizzard Entertainment, leads the team’s competitive efforts.
YGG’s involvement in the esports scene has further solidified its reputation for fostering talent and promoting web3 gaming. Many YGG community members have also reached the top 100 in the leaderboards and are actively sharing their strategies with newer players joining Parallel TCG. Weekly events leading up to the YGG Play Summit will provide regular opportunities for players to sharpen their skills and climb the rankings.
Parallel in Esports Setting
The upcoming YGG Play Summit in Manila promises to be a landmark event for the web3 gaming community, with the $100,000 Parallel TCG tournament serving as one of its main attractions. As Yield Guild Games continues to foster partnerships and provide opportunities for players to engage in web3 gaming, events like these are paving the way for the future of esports and digital ownership in the blockchain space.
