Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas, a leading web3 gaming community in the Philippines, will conclude its YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip in Manila on July 14, 2024, at Ayala Malls TriNoma, Quezon City. This event marks the end of YGG Pilipinas’ year-long initiative to introduce web3 gaming to Filipinos nationwide.
The YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip is a nationwide event bringing web3 closer to the heart of the Philippine community. Traveling to localities, the Roadtrip aims to bring Filipino gamers together and help them discover the possibilities found in web3. It is a platform to bring web3 games and brands to the heart of the Filipino gaming community.
YGG Pilipinas to Conclude Nationwide Roadtrip in Manila
The YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip has been a vibrant celebration of web3 gaming intertwined with regional Filipino culture. Over 5,000 attendees have participated in the roadtrip’s various stops, including Batangas, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, and Bacolod.
The roadtrip's success was supported by partnerships with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and local government units (LGUs). Notable contributions included a heartfelt speech by Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas Mayor Janet Magpantay Ilagan. International collaborators also participated, with representatives from Mighty Bear Games, Immutable, and others attending various legs of the journey.
Event Highlights
The Manila leg of the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip is poised to be the largest event, featuring game demonstrations and live matches for popular web3 games such as Parallel, My Pet Hooligan, and Petopia. Attendees will get a sneak peek of BreederDAO’s upcoming game, Creatorverse.
Web3 Game Demos, Cosplay Competitions, and Giveaways
The event will feature an Experience Zone with booths from sponsors like Coins.ph, BreederDAO, and JamboPhone, offering giveaways such as JamboPhones, NFTs, and web3 in-game assets. YGG Pilipinas’ Web3 Metaversity Program will host talks and workshops to introduce newcomers to web3 concepts.
Additionally, local rock band Lola Amour will perform live, with attendees encouraged to sing along to their hit, “Raining in Manila.” A highlight of the event is the largest cosplay competition of the roadtrip, with a PHP 100,000 prize pool for the best cosplayers. YGG's Gabby Dizon commented:
“From the very start, our mission has been to democratize access to the wealth of opportunities in web3 to Filipinos all over the country. After reaching out to the growing web3 communities in Batangas, Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Batangas over the past year, YGG Pilipinas is excited to host the Roadtrip’s final chapter in the nation’s capital. We’re honored to welcome community members old and new to the last leg of the incredible journey we’ve had thus far.”
YGG Pilipinas Ending this July 14th
To make the event accessible to a broader audience, YGG Pilipinas is partnering with Edison to provide a virtual experience of the Manila event through the metaverse. This virtual recreation will feature interactive booths, game demos, and networking opportunities. Virtual attendees can also complete quests to earn rewards and prizes, fostering inclusivity and community engagement.
Although the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip is concluding, the journey into web3 gaming in the Philippines is just beginning. Upcoming events, such as the YGG Play Summit on November 18-22, 2024, promise to continue the momentum of web3 onboarding initiatives.
