Yield Guild Games (YGG) has formally entered the web3 game publishing space with the launch of its first in-house developed title, LOL Land, under its new game publishing unit, YGG Play. This move marks a strategic expansion for YGG, which has been known primarily for its contributions to the play-to-earn ecosystem and its role as a coordinator of web3 gaming communities. YGG Play aims to define and develop a new genre of games known as “Casual Degen,” focusing on simple, accessible, and culturally resonant experiences designed for web3-native audiences.

About LOL Land

LOL Land is a browser-based casual board game that combines elements of strategy and community engagement. Prior to its official release, the game received over 100,000 pre-registrations, signaling strong interest from the web3 gaming community. The game features four themed boards—YGG City, Beach Day, Carnival, and Ice World Wonderland. The latter includes characters from the Pudgy Penguins IP, allowing players to select from avatars based on well-known community members such as Aaron Teng, Rusk0f, KP, Burnasso, and Orange. YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon is also included as a playable character. Additional board themes, such as Pirate Cove and Parkside Story, are currently in development.

A New Genre in Web3: Casual Degen

With YGG Play, Yield Guild Games is aiming to formalize the Casual Degen genre. This approach to game design focuses on light, easy-to-play formats that reflect the unique culture and humor often found in the crypto space. Gameplay Structure and Reward System

LOL Land offers two distinct gameplay modes to suit different player preferences. The free mode provides unlimited rolls without the opportunity to earn token rewards. The premium mode allows players to purchase rolls, with points earned through gameplay eligible for conversion into YGG tokens. In both modes, players can also collect non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and gain Abstract XP. The game is accessible via browser and is available only to players aged 18 and above in approved jurisdictions.  The game is available to play now at LOL.Land. 

Exclusive Launch on Abstract Chain

LOL Land launched exclusively on the Abstract Chain, a blockchain platform developed by Igloo Inc., the parent company of Pudgy Penguins. Abstract is designed to be user-friendly, with features such as social logins and chain abstraction that simplify the onboarding process for players new to web3. The platform also supports a variety of web3-native applications and has previously hosted titles such as Myriad, Roach Racing Club, and Gacha. The launch of LOL Land also coincided with the availability of the YGG token on Abstract, further integrating the game with the broader ecosystem.
