Wonder Wars, the mobile strategy game developed by Web3 studio Hello Monster, will officially shut down by the end of June 2025. Despite a dedicated player base and multiple community events, the team confirmed they were unable to secure the funding needed to sustain development and will no longer move forward with launching their planned utility token. As a result, both Wonder Wars and the broader Hello Monster gaming company will come to a full stop.
Founded by a small but passionate indie team, Hello Monster spent the past three years building Wonder Wars with the vision of creating a mobile game that was easy to play, fun to compete in, and integrated Web3 in a meaningful and player-first way. Backed by community builders and co-founded by notable Supercell content creator Alvaro845, the game was designed to appeal to both traditional gamers and Web3 natives.

Wonder Wars featured vibrant real-time lane-based strategy battles, collectible heroes and troops, and a community-driven roadmap. It launched in early access on mobile devices and saw encouraging early momentum, including tens of thousands of downloads and a growing Discord and social media presence.
The team also released an NFT collection called The Originals, which granted holders early access benefits, in-game bonuses, and eligibility for special events. Community feedback and involvement played a central role in the game’s development, which only made the decision to shut down more difficult for the creators.
In early 2025, Wonder Wars ran a series of Play-to-Airdrop (P2A) campaigns. These competitive events invited players to earn points by playing the game regularly, clearing dungeons, battling in PvP, and completing challenges. Top scorers were promised allocations from a future airdrop of the project’s $WONDER token.
Around the same time, the game also migrated to the Ronin blockchain, aiming to tap into a more active Web3 gaming ecosystem and offer players smoother, low-cost transactions. This move was seen as a strategic step to support the game’s token economy and player experience.
Wonder Wars Play to Airdrop Campaign
The final P2A event concluded in mid-May 2025 and was intended to build momentum toward the game’s token launch. The team had planned a supply of 10 billion tokens, with 50 million reserved for active players. Although the campaigns drew participation from thousands of players, the engagement wasn’t enough to meet the sustainability benchmarks required for a live-service game.
The confirmation came in an official statement from Hello Monster, shared across the game’s community channels. In the farewell message, the team expressed deep gratitude to its players and supporters, while also being candid about the challenges faced.
Wonder Wars/Hello Monster Shutdown Announcement
The team emphasized that launching a utility token without a viable long-term product would go against their principles — calling it “not in our DNA.” In their words, “We are game developers. At Hello Monster, we created this project to entertain players and offer something genuinely fun. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.”
As a result, the $WONDER token will not be released, and all plans involving digital assets have been formally cancelled. The game will remain accessible until the end of June 2025, at which point servers will be permanently shut down.
Like many Web3 titles navigating the harsh realities of 2025, Wonder Wars struggled to maintain growth in an environment shaped by investor caution, slower player adoption, and overall market fatigue. Despite a solid product and a deeply engaged community, the game's performance metrics fell short of what was needed to secure long-term funding and justify continued development.
The Hello Monster team made the difficult call to shut down both the game and the broader project, choosing not to launch a utility token they believed would serve no real long-term value. In doing so, they opted for transparency over speculation, a move that many in the community have respected, even as they shared in the disappointment. Wonder Wars will remain live until the end of June 2025, giving players a final chance to enjoy the experience before servers go offline. While the project's journey has come to an unexpected end, the developers leave behind a legacy of honesty, creative ambition, and a heartfelt connection with the community that believed in them.
