Wanderers Selects Treasure L2 as Exclusive Gaming Partner

After a comprehensive evaluation of various web3 gaming platforms, the sci-fi roguelite Wanderers has decided to partner with Treasure, a decentralized game console platform built on Layer-2 blockchain technology. This strategic partnership represents a significant step for both Wanderers and Treasure, particularly as Treasure prepares for its mainnet launch in late 2024. Wanderers (developed by WanderLabs in partnership with Animoca’s Blowfish Studios) marks its first exclusive web3 platform commitment with Treasure, solidifying Treasure’s presence in the decentralized gaming landscape.

More About Wanderers

Known for its unique blend of roguelite mechanics and deck-building gameplay, Wanderers is set in a vast, story-rich sci-fi universe where players explore procedurally generated environments, upgrade characters, and face continuous challenges. The game’s players can collect RAM cards that boost abilities and tackle high-stakes missions to protect an intergalactic Alliance from imminent threats.

Each game season introduces new content, including characters, abilities, and storylines, providing ongoing engagement for returning players. Since its open beta launch on the Epic Games Store in mid-2024, Wanderers has gained substantial traction. Within its first month, it recorded 10,500 daily active users and 25,500 monthly active users, with players spending an average of 67 minutes per session, showing significant player engagement and retention.

Bringing Game Economies On-Chain

Treasure’s reputation as a decentralized game console and its ability to bring game economies on-chain through innovative interoperability features appealed strongly to Wanderers’ vision for decentralized, player-owned gaming. Nick Greenawalt and Jenna Greenfield, co-founders of Wanderers, noted the alignment between the two companies, highlighting Treasure’s support for indie developers and its community-focused approach.

"We've had opportunities to build on various chains, but Treasure's track record with indie developers, their community-first approach, and quite honestly their entire ecosystem’s vibes align perfectly with our vision. Their success in fostering innovative games and engaged communities made them the clear choice for Wanderers' next phase of growth," Nick stated.

Treasure’s Gaming Infrastructure

Treasure’s platform offers robust tools and infrastructure, positioning it as an appealing base layer for blockchain games. Notable features include player onboarding through Treasure Connect, which simplifies user access, and Magicswap, a decentralized exchange that enables game developers to integrate on-chain economies seamlessly. Treasure’s migration to zkSync's Elastic Chain infrastructure, which followed a community governance vote, provides improved scalability and native account abstraction.

This allows Wanderers to leverage Treasure’s flexible blockchain technology, ensuring that as player numbers grow, Treasure’s systems can scale to meet demand. Karel Vuong, co-founder and CEO of Treasure, sees Wanderers as an ideal addition to the Treasure ecosystem. “Wanderers exemplifies the type of innovative, community-driven project that thrives on Treasure,” Vuong shared.

"Just like the team at Treasure, Wanderers is a perfect example of the independent spirit and approach to building we look to champion as we expand our ecosystem. As we prepare for our mainnet launch, this partnership demonstrates how our platform continues to attract forward-thinking developers and visionaries striving to grow the pie," Karel added.

Final Thoughts

For Treasure, this partnership with Wanderers underscores its positioning as a premier decentralized gaming ecosystem, able to attract top-tier developers and titles. With this collaboration, Wanderers will bring its NFT-based assets, player economy, and extensive storyline to a dedicated blockchain environment designed to enhance its gaming experience through web3 technology.

Treasure, founded in 2021, has steadily expanded its game library and community support, currently hosting titles such as The Beacon, Smolbound, Zeeverse, and Synergy Land. Powered by the $MAGIC token, Treasure offers Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility and features a large-scale, decentralized gaming infrastructure. With Treasure’s capabilities, Wanderers will be able to integrate new tournaments, co-op, and PvP modes, leveraging Treasure’s on-chain support to enhance multiplayer and economy-based game features in future updates.

As Wanderers transitions to Treasure’s Layer-2 platform, this partnership marks a pivotal development in decentralized gaming, bringing web3 gaming closer to mainstream audiences while paving the way for future innovations in player-owned, blockchain-integrated experiences.
