Wanderers, a sci-fi roguelite developed by Blowfish Studios and published by Wander Labs, launched its open beta on July 30th, 2024. Wanderers, backed by Animoca Brands, combines free-to-play mechanics with a rogue-lite sci-fi shooter experience. The game features top-down, action-based gameplay where players navigate wormholes to hostile planets, engage in combat, collect loot, and repeat the process. The introduction of deck-building with RAM Cards offers extensive customization, allowing players to tailor their playstyle.
The open beta will introduce several new features not present in the closed beta. Notably, the RAM Card Fusing system allows players to combine cards to enhance their abilities. Other anticipated updates include improvements to Infinite Mode, Daily Challenges and Quests, and the introduction of a WanderID account system.
Wanderers offers procedurally generated worlds and deckbuilding elements in its gameplay. Players can expect to upgrade their abilities with RAM cards, engage in a single-player campaign, and explore new characters and weapons. Future updates will introduce co-op and PvP modes, a level editor, and seasonal content. The game will feature a web-based platform for on-chain trading of community-created content, with NFT ownership for user-generated levels.
The Play-to-Airdrop Event offers players an opportunity to earn the forthcoming $WANDER token by engaging in the game. Interested players can join the campaign by visiting the designated page linked via a tweet. The initial phase involves claiming a galaxy and completing social quests, with the potential for gameplay-based quests as the beta progresses. The campaign is expected to evolve with various phases, including competitions and community engagement activities.
Wanderers is the result of a collaboration between Wander Labs and Blowfish Studios. Wander Labs, backed by Animoca Brands and GameFi Ventures, initially launched Wanderers as an NFT collection. The game’s development has been funded in part by a $2 million seed round, with a plan to transition out of early access in Q2 2025. The exact date for the Token Generation Event (TGE) of the $WANDER token has yet to be announced.
