Web3 gaming studio Valeria Games has announced that it has run out of funds, leading to the suspension of development and support for both its flagship mobile game and trading card game (TCG). The announcement comes just two weeks after the conclusion of Season 1 of Valeria: Land Before the War, leaving many players frustrated and uncertain about the future of the project.

In a statement posted on X (Twitter), the Valeria Games team informed the community about the financial situation, stating that the company would be halting development while searching for investors or potential buyers. The team also confirmed that the previously planned $LOV token generation event (TGE) was indefinitely postponed. While the announcement expressed gratitude for the community's support, it did not provide further details about how the company reached this point.
The news was met with strong reactions from the gaming community, with many questioning how the company could have run out of funds so suddenly. The backlash was particularly strong among players who had participated in a recent play-to-airdrop (P2A) campaign, which reportedly generated over 20 million transactions and engaged more than 100,000 unique active wallets on the XAI blockchain. Some players voiced concerns that the company had mismanaged funds, while others accused it of misleading the community by continuing to promote the game despite knowing its financial struggles.
Cesar Martinez, a notable individual in the web3 gaming space and member of Wolves DAO, expressed skepticism on X (Twitter), arguing that financial difficulties do not arise overnight and that the team should have been aware of the situation earlier. His comments reflected a broader frustration among players who felt blindsided by the sudden halt in development.
January 2025 Staats
Valeria Games, originally known as Antebellum Games, entered the web3 gaming industry in 2022 with ambitious plans to integrate blockchain technology into gaming, trading card games, and digital collectibles. The company quickly gained attention through key partnerships, product launches, and community engagement efforts.
In 2022, Valeria Games collaborated with notable NFT projects such as Creepz and Kaiju Kingz, helping to establish its presence in the blockchain gaming space. The following year, the company expanded into webcomics, attracting over 300,000 reads in a single week. It also introduced a prototype physical trading card game, further diversifying its offerings. In December 2023, the Founder's Set collection sold out in just 23 seconds, highlighting strong demand for the project.
In October 2024, the company officially launched Valeria: Land Before the War, a real-time strategy mobile game inspired by Pokémon-style mechanics. Shortly after, it migrated to XAI's Layer 3 blockchain, aiming to reduce transaction fees and enhance on-chain functionality. These milestones suggested a company on a strong growth trajectory, making the sudden financial collapse even more surprising to its community.
Valeria: Season 1 Success
The abrupt halt in development has led to growing speculation about the company's financial management. Some players believe that the studio may have miscalculated its resources, while others suspect that the situation may indicate more serious concerns, such as misrepresentation of the project's financial health.
Just weeks before the announcement, Valeria Games had been actively promoting its success and teasing upcoming partnerships with platforms like Moca Network. Given the company's efforts to generate excitement around future developments, many players now feel misled. The lack of clear communication regarding refunds or compensation for in-game purchases and the promised airdrop has further eroded trust in the company.
Valeria: Founder's Set Case
For now, Valeria Games has stated that the game will remain online while the team explores funding opportunities. However, there is no clear roadmap for what comes next. The company has not provided any official updates on whether players will receive compensation or if there is a realistic chance of resuming development.
The situation highlights the challenges faced by web3 gaming projects, where financial instability can quickly lead to uncertainty for both developers and players. Whether Valeria Games can recover from this setback remains to be seen, but for now, its community is left with more questions than answers.
