In a significant development for web3 gaming, Upland has successfully secured a $7 million investment to bolster its expansion efforts. Upland, which initially gained recognition for its virtual real estate game, is now honing its focus on becoming a “Web3 Metaverse Super App”.
The recent funding round includes participation from EOS Network Ventures, alongside established supporters like C3 Venture Capital, Animoca Brands, and angel investors. This brings Upland's total funding to an impressive $25 million, signifying growing confidence in the project's potential.

The infusion of funds is expected to accelerate Upland's mission to create what it calls "the world's largest digital open economy." With over 3 million registered accounts on the EOS blockchain and close to 300,000 virtual property owners, Upland has emerged as one of the most widely used Web3 apps globally.
This round of investment also paves the way for the wider trade of Upland's utility token, Spark, beyond its native platform and onto Ethereum through a Token Tradability Event. The move aims to enhance the token's accessibility and liquidity, potentially further boosting its value within the Upland ecosystem.
Upland has achieved significant growth and engagement within its community, marked by a surge in virtual property owners and the successful launch of new features over the past year. Notable additions include a car racing app, in-game racing features, a third-party developer platform, and partnerships with well-known brands like NFLPA, FIFA, and Stock Car Pro Series.
The company's expansion into international cities, including London, Tokyo, and Berlin, has also played a role in expanding its user base.

Upland's mobile platform offers a range of activities for both players and creators, including virtual property trading, world-building, collecting, and engaging competitions. The platform also empowers entrepreneurs by allowing them to operate their own shops, contributing to a thriving digital economy driven by UPX, the native currency of Upland, and Spark, the utility token that facilitates value creation within the community.
