Wagyu Games is bringing Undead Blocks back with a full relaunch on Avalanche, powered by a new partnership with Blackhole. Here's what to expect from the revamped web3 FPS.
Undead Blocks, the zombie survival shooter that made waves in the early web3 gaming scene, is officially coming back. After a period of silence and a change in development direction, the game is being relaunched on Avalanche, and this time it’s backed by a new partnership with Blackhole, its first decentralized exchange (DEX) partner on the chain. Wagyu Games, which acquired the project from Adonis Software last year, is leading the charge with a reworked version of the game and a detailed roadmap stretching into 2026.

If you missed the first run, Undead Blocks launched as a “kill-to-earn” first-person shooter in 2022 on Ethereum and Immutable. It offered fast-paced, zombie-slaying action across several modes like Solo, Squads, Speedrun, and Massacre. Solo and Squads were all about surviving endless waves, while Speedrun focused on clearing waves quickly, and Massacre was a race to rack up as many kills as possible in a short window.
The game was free to play, but if you wanted to earn the in-game Gold ZBUX (the on-chain currency pegged to $0.10), you needed an NFT from the Genesis Weapons collection. These NFTs weren’t just cosmetic, they gave access to VIP Solo mode and came with loadouts like an M1911 and a combat knife, or more powerful kits like AKMs, shotguns, and grenades.
Gold ZBUX could be used to buy skins, power-ups, or even be redeemed for crypto. Free players could still grind Standard ZBUX, an off-chain token used for weapon upgrades and unlocks. There were plans to expand to Android and iOS in 2023, but that never fully happened. Then the game went quiet—until now.
Undead Blocks Is Relaunching on Avalanche
On July 2, Wagyu Games announced it was relaunching Undead Blocks on Avalanche with Blackhole stepping in as the game’s first DEX partner on the new chain. That means the $UNDEAD token is getting bridged to Avalanche, and the game’s backend will shift to a faster, more scalable blockchain, one that already hosts titles like Off The Grid.
Alongside the token migration, the dev team confirmed the relaunch will come with new maps, weapons, and play-to-earn tournaments. Blackhole’s involvement also brings co-marketing support and upcoming trading competitions to boost activity around the token and attract new players.
While the X post was light on gameplay specifics, fans digging into the game’s whitepaper found an updated roadmap, quietly published the day before the announcement. And it’s packed with new features and long-term support.

The new roadmap spans Q3 2025 through Q2 2026, and it’s clear the relaunch is more than just a simple update. The devs are reworking everything, from backend infrastructure to gameplay features and ecosystem tools.
Starting in Q3 2025, servers are moving from AWS to Google Cloud, the zombie UI is getting a revamp, and the Neighborhood map is being enhanced. The team also plans to bring back Gold ZBUX rewards, rework Duos and Squads, and kick off development on the long-delayed mobile version. New characters and weapon skins are in the pipeline, along with sponsored tournaments and a new Mall map as part of the “Neighborhood Extension.”

On the ecosystem side, $UNDEAD is headed for new centralized and decentralized exchanges. The devs are launching the Wagyu Games Marketplace and starting work on a Rental Marketplace and a stake-to-mint platform. The Immutable based Skin Collection will be migrated to Avalanche, completing the shift away from its original blockchain roots.
In Q4 2025, players can expect new challenges, more character NFTs, a limited Apocalypse Weapon NFT drop, and the Extended Neighborhood map. Weekly and monthly tournaments are coming, open to both VIP and free players. There’s also a new Graveyard map in the works, plus some experimental features like a Music Jukebox and a mysterious Blood Box system. Invo Technologies will be integrated to streamline user experience, and work will begin on Genesis and Apocalypse weapon upgrades.

The first half of 2026 looks ambitious. In Q1, expect beta tests for the Mall map and Squads mode, the launch of the mobile version, and the arrival of an in-game store with debit and credit card support. The battle pass system is coming online, and Wagyu plans to start work on Squads Mobile. There will also be new partner NFTs and upgrades for both Genesis and Apocalypse weapons.
Q2 will build on that momentum with the full launch of Squads Mobile, the debut of the Graveyard map, and an expanded battle pass system featuring new NFTs. Players will also get new character clothing and accessory drops, giving more customization options for their avatars.
Undead Blocks Is Relaunching on Avalanche
Undead Blocks is aiming for a proper second chance, and the move to Avalanche combined with the Blackhole partnership sets the stage for a stronger return. Wagyu Games is pushing for more content, better infrastructure, and a web3 experience that actually delivers on long-term support. Whether you're a returning player or new to the scene, the coming updates look like a serious step forward for one of web3’s more promising FPS titles. Keep an eye out as the relaunch unfolds later this year.
