Ubisoft has launched a decentralized verification network (DVN) aimed at improving the security and functionality of cross-chain asset transfers within the web3 gaming space. Built using LayerZero’s omnichain messaging protocol, the initiative reflects Ubisoft’s ongoing efforts to expand its blockchain capabilities and offer a more accessible and integrated experience for gamers engaging with digital assets.
The DVN acts as a decentralized verification layer that enables trustless validation of in-game assets across multiple blockchain networks. By removing the technical limitations typically associated with multi-chain environments, the DVN provides a foundation that supports secure and seamless interoperability. Ubisoft’s deployment of this system aligns with its broader goal of establishing a stable and scalable infrastructure for web3 gaming applications.
Ubisoft Launches Decentralized Verification Network
To power its DVN, Ubisoft has integrated LayerZero’s omnichain messaging protocol, which connects more than 130 blockchains including Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon. This integration supports the transfer of digital assets across chains while maintaining data integrity and ownership verification. With this approach, Ubisoft aims to offer users the ability to interact with their assets across multiple platforms without being confined to a single ecosystem.
The use of LayerZero’s ONFT (Omnichain Non-Fungible Token) and OFT (Omnichain Fungible Token) standards allows Ubisoft to maintain greater oversight of how assets are used and moved. This includes support for non-fungible tokens, profile pictures (PFPs), and in-game currencies that players can utilize in different environments. The omnichain infrastructure offers a solution to longstanding challenges in asset interoperability and contributes to a more cohesive digital ownership model within gaming.
Ubisoft Launches Decentralized Verification Network
Ubisoft has been involved in blockchain-related development since 2021, exploring ways to incorporate decentralized technologies into its games and services. The launch of the DVN marks a continuation of this effort, reinforcing the company’s position in the evolving web3 gaming space. By choosing to work with LayerZero, Ubisoft is aligning with a protocol that has become a core infrastructure provider for cross-chain applications.
Didier Genevois, executive producer at Ubisoft, stated that the DVN enhances the security and scalability of the company’s platform while allowing assets to move seamlessly across blockchain networks. He emphasized that the collaboration with LayerZero helps Ubisoft meet gamers wherever they are and supports the goal of building a secure and accessible ecosystem for both players and developers.
Bryan Pelligrino, CEO of LayerZero, remarked that Ubisoft’s approach to creating an omnichain ecosystem reflects a broader vision for the future of gaming. He highlighted the significance of the DVN in supporting interoperability and trustless asset management across chains, aligning with LayerZero’s mission to enable a permissionless and interconnected blockchain environment.
Ubisoft Launches Decentralized Verification Network
Ubisoft’s decentralized verification network also carries strategic significance for LayerZero. With Ubisoft reporting bookings of €2.32 billion in the past year, the company’s entry into omnichain gaming represents a notable endorsement of LayerZero’s infrastructure. The protocol currently powers over 400 applications and has facilitated more than 140 million cross-chain messages, serving projects across areas such as stablecoins, on-chain lending, and digital identity.
By integrating LayerZero, Ubisoft not only expands the technical capabilities of its own platform but also contributes to the growing momentum behind web3 interoperability. The DVN initiative is a step toward establishing a consistent standard for asset verification and movement across decentralized systems, providing a model that other gaming publishers and developers may consider adopting in the future.
