R.E.P.O.

R.E.P.O. reclaimed first place in May, selling 1.7 million copies on Steam. Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign debuted strongly, selling 1.2 million copies in just two days on Steam and generating $48.5 million in gross revenue. Total cross-platform sales by early June reached over 3.5 million copies, with 1.7 million of those on Steam. Among Steam purchasers, 80 percent also own the original Elden Ring, suggesting that the new title has appealed significantly to the existing fanbase of the franchise.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 saw an increase in momentum, selling 1 million copies in May, which was an improvement over its April performance. The game has now sold over 1.8 million copies on Steam, bringing in approximately $69 million in gross revenue. The United States and Japan represent nearly half of its current user base, indicating strong international appeal.

Schedule 1

While no longer in the top monthly position, Schedule 1 continues to perform well, with total Steam sales now reaching 8.2 million copies. Gross revenue from these sales has reached $126 million. The title remains one of the top-selling games overall in recent months.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered recorded 585,000 new purchases in May, bringing total sales on Steam to over 2 million. The game has now generated $84 million in gross revenue. Its presence in the top ranks reflects continued interest in remastered and legacy content, a trend further illustrated by the success of Black Mesa and Battlefield 1. Black Mesa sold 384,000 copies during the month, while Battlefield 1 reached 355,000 sales. The latter saw a significant boost from a price reduction to $1.99 and the release of a free content pack titled They Shall Not Pass.

Helldivers II

Helldivers II experienced a rise in engagement with the release of its Heart of Democracy update, which helped the game surpass 1 million daily active users for the first time since early 2024. Steam sales in May reached 537,000 copies. Across all platforms, the game has sold 11.8 million copies. A 20 percent discount offered during the update’s release also contributed to the increased activity.

V Rising and New Releases

V Rising continued its steady growth, selling 446,000 copies in May and surpassing 5 million total copies sold on Steam. Among new releases, FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time was the only fresh title to enter the top ten. The simulation game from Level-5 sold 429,000 copies, with a notable portion of its audience based in China, which accounted for nearly half of its user base. The strong reception in that market helped secure its place among the month’s top sellers.

Broader Market Trends

Sales data from May 2025 indicate that players continue to support both established franchises and emerging titles, with a significant number of top-performing games originating from non-AAA teams. Regional differences in popularity remain evident, with specific titles resonating more in markets such as the United States, Japan, and China. The role of nostalgia, pricing strategies, and content updates has also played a substantial part in driving sales during the period.
