Tollan Survivors, the blockchain-based 2D roguelite game developed within the web3 gaming ecosystem of Tollan Universe, has launched its first official season titled Ogre Hunt. Running from May 25 to June 8, Season 1 introduces new gameplay mechanics and competitive features aimed at players looking to play and earn through strategic runs, leaderboard progression, and a player-funded USDC prize pool.

The main challenge in Season 1 revolves around hunting powerful Ogres in boss-focused runs. Players begin each session by entering blue portals that take them to areas where red portals spawn Ogres. The goal is to defeat as many Ogres as possible to collect event points, known as Tusks. These points can be banked only if the player successfully exits through a blue portal before being defeated. Failure to exit in time results in the loss of all collected Tusks from that run.
A performance-based system adds an additional layer of strategy, rewarding players with extra Tusks for quick Ogre eliminations. Each time a new Ogre appears, the positions of both red and blue portals change, requiring players to continuously adapt their movements and tactics. This dynamic encourages both speed and caution, as players must weigh the risk of continuing a run against the potential loss of their earned points.

Season 1 features three distinct leaderboards to track player progress and determine reward distribution. The Cumulative Leaderboard records the total number of Tusks collected across all runs during the season. The Peak Run Leaderboard highlights the best single run, factoring in performance metrics and Crystal multipliers. A new addition is the Daily Leaderboard, which resets every 24 hours at 12:00 AM UTC. To qualify for the Daily Leaderboard, players must complete 10 runs within a day. The top 20 players on this leaderboard earn bonus event points, creating daily opportunities for advancement and rewards.
A key element of Season 1 is the inclusion of a USDC prize pool funded directly by the community. The pool was initially seeded with $3000 USDC and is set to grow as players purchase in-game currency. Specifically, 70% of the revenue from Crown purchases contributes to the ongoing expansion of the prize pool. To be eligible for a share of the USDC rewards, players must earn at least the equivalent of $10 in Tusks.
At the end of the season, qualifying wallets will receive their USDC rewards on the Arbitrum network. The claim window for these rewards opens within one week after the season ends. Leaderboard-based rewards will become available one day before the start of Season 2. The prize pool surpassed $4500 USDC within the first 24 hours, signaling strong player participation and continued growth potential.

To join Season 1, players are required to purchase a Gold Pass. This pass costs 500 Crowns and grants access to the event, along with 10 Crystals at the time of purchase and 5 additional Crystals daily. Crystals must be claimed every 24 hours and are necessary to begin a boss hunt. Higher-tier Crystals serve as score multipliers, increasing a player’s chances of climbing the leaderboards.
Crowns, the in-game currency of Tollan Survivors, can be purchased with fiat or cryptocurrency. Available bundles include 1000 Crowns for $8.99, 2000 Crowns for $17.99, and 5000 Crowns for $34.99. Crystals are available in packs using Crowns and come in varying quantities and multiplier tiers. For instance, a 40-pack includes up to a 4X Crystal, providing a significant scoring advantage in runs.
Tollan Survivors Season 1: Ogre Hunt marks the beginning of a new chapter in competitive web3 gaming. With its mix of roguelite gameplay, evolving maps, and player-funded prize structures, the season offers a model that emphasizes both skill and strategic decision-making. Players looking to compete and earn have two weeks to participate, collect Tusks, and secure their share of the USDC rewards. More information is available on the official Medium post and detailed player guide. Those interested can get started by signing in through the Tollan Hub on the XAI mainnet.
