TOKYO BEAST, a web3 game, will officially end service on August 24, 2025. Learn about compensation for users, service shutdown timelines, and future plans from the TOKYO GAMES Foundation.
The development team behind the web3 game TOKYO BEAST has officially announced that the service will end on August 24, 2025, at 08:00 (UTC). The announcement came from producer Naoki Motohashi, who acknowledged the ongoing support from players and expressed appreciation for the community’s involvement throughout the project’s life cycle. While the decision was described as difficult, the developers stated that rising operational costs and a lack of financial sustainability ultimately led to the service termination after a series of internal discussions with stakeholders.
TOKYO BEAST to End Service
Although TOKYO BEAST will come to a close, the broader initiatives under the TOKYO GAMES Foundation and its associated token TGT will continue. The project was considered a key title within the foundation's portfolio, and although this chapter is ending, new developments are already underway. Future games beyond TOKYO BEAST are in active planning and production, and the development team encourages users to follow ongoing announcements regarding these upcoming titles.
To support users affected by the closure, the development team has introduced a compensation plan using USDC, a stablecoin. The compensation process will begin on July 22, 2025, and will be executed on the Immutable zkEVM Chain.
According to the team, USDC was chosen instead of TGT in order to avoid potential issues with price volatility and market impact. Using TGT, they explained, could result in value fluctuations that might undermine the fairness of the compensation and add selling pressure to the token, which could in turn affect future initiatives tied to the TOKYO GAMES Foundation.
Users eligible for compensation are those who held or used specific in-game assets as of July 22, 2025, at 08:00 (UTC). Full compensation will be offered for unused GEM and LUCKY TICKET NFTs purchased during the primary sale. Other assets, including BEAST NFTs, BEAST RAWDISK NFTs, PLAYER ICON NFTs, and items obtained through secondary markets such as TOKEN TROVE, will be compensated based on market valuations.

These valuations consider factors such as mint price and floor price on the secondary market as of July 20, 2025. Certain functions, such as PARAMETER REDRAWING, GENE SHUFFLING, and TGT STAKING, will also be considered for compensation, with calculations reflecting their in-game impact and market behavior.
Compensation will be provided in USDC and distributed directly to the wallets of eligible users. The exchange rate will be fixed at 1 USDC per $1 equivalent. The refund process for unused “Paid JEWELS” will also be available through an application process after the end of service. However, users are advised not to uninstall the app until refunds are processed, as doing so may interfere with the completion of the refund.
TOKYO BEAST to End Service
To help address concerns related to the service shutdown and compensation plan, the development team will host an AMA session on the official TOKYO BEAST Discord server. The AMA will take place on July 24, 2025, at 10:30 (UTC). Community members are invited to submit questions in advance through a designated online form, with submissions accepted until July 23, 2025, at 14:59 (UTC). The team has stated that it will respond to inquiries as clearly and openly as possible during the session.
TOKYO BEAST to End Service
The process of winding down the TOKYO BEAST ecosystem will take place over several phases. The TB Store will cease sales operations on July 22, 2025, at 08:00 (UTC). On the same day, several game features - including LUCKY CHOICE, TGT STAKING, and BEAST NFT STAKING - will transition to limited functions, allowing only the collection of existing rewards or unstaking of assets.
Between July 22 and July 31, 2025, various services within TOKYO BEAST BASE will be made available free of charge. These include GEM usage for GACHA and BREEDING, fees for claiming unclaimed TGT, and conversion costs for PLAYER ICON NFTs. The BASE portion of the game will officially end on July 31, 2025, at 08:00 (UTC). The TRIALS section of the game, which includes key activities such as ARENA and CHAMPIONSHIP, will conclude with a final round on August 24, 2025.
The MATCHUP mode and the entire TOKYO BEAST service will end on the same day at 08:00 (UTC). Refund applications for eligible assets will open on August 25, 2025, and users will have until September 30, 2025, at 06:00 (UTC) to complete the process. Following that date, app distribution will be discontinued, and no further compensation applications will be accepted.
TOKYO BEAST to End Service
As part of the service shutdown, the official TOKYO BEAST Discord server will be deactivated after August 24, 2025. Similarly, updates to the project’s official social media accounts will be discontinued from that date. Users seeking support or information related to the end of service are encouraged to consult the official website while it remains active.
