Heatherly, renowned for his prior roles as Vice President of Mobile Games at Disney and Vice President of Games at Universal, brought his extensive expertise to the studio. Earlier this year, the team attracted attention by raising $3 million to develop a web3 game, highlighting the potential and ambition behind the intellectual property. Described as a social party game akin to Among Us, The Mystery Society incorporates web3 features like NFTs and tokens, providing players with a fresh gaming experience.

Although development is being suspended, the team intends to keep the game live for as long as possible while searching for a new path forward. One possibility under consideration is a relaunch of the game on Steam without the web3 components. Additionally, the team remains open to the idea of transferring the game to a publisher, whether within web2 or web3, should the right opportunity arise. The game was being built on the Immutable blockchain.
