The Backwoods introduces $LEAF Season, a web3 gaming airdrop distributing 150 million tokens across over 500,000 wallets. Players can earn rewards through gameplay and social participation.
The Backwoods, a browser-based web3 roguelite game, has launched its latest community campaign titled the $LEAF Season. This new initiative introduces a large-scale airdrop event that will see 150 million $LEAF tokens distributed to more than 500,000 wallets. The campaign includes participants from across the game’s ecosystem, including active players, early adopters, alpha testers, NFT holders, and contributors.
The airdrop campaign, which started on June 24 and is set to run through July, represents one of the largest token distribution efforts currently taking place in the web3 gaming space. With a focus on rewarding community engagement and in-game performance, the $LEAF Season underscores The Backwoods’ continued emphasis on play-to-earn mechanics and community growth.
The Backwoods to Airdrop 150 Million Tokens
A key feature of this season is the introduction of Leaf Hunt, a browser extension designed to reward players for their activity on social media. The extension, titled “The Backwoods Chrome Extension,” is available on the Chrome Web Store and is linked directly from the official website. Once installed, it allows users to earn in-game currency called Crystals by engaging with marked posts on the social platform X. When users reply to eligible posts that include a specific LEAF icon and use the phrase “leaf season” in their reply, they are awarded a random amount of Crystals.
This activity can be completed twice per day. Players who participate for at least seven consecutive days unlock a bonus quest worth 1,000 Crystals. Crystals earned through this system can be used in-game to purchase chests that contain gear upgrades, offering practical benefits for gameplay. To ensure the extension syncs correctly with in-game accounts, players are required to sign out and sign back in through the game launcher after installing the extension.
In addition to the new social engagement mechanics, several gameplay features have been updated for the $LEAF Season. The update includes new map areas and sub-camps, a pet system that allows players to hatch eggs for added bonuses, and changes to the season pass that bring new reward opportunities. Boss encounters now drop chests that no longer require keys to open, streamlining the rewards process. These additions come alongside general improvements and bug fixes aimed at improving the overall gaming experience.
The Backwoods to Airdrop 150 Million Tokens
Participation in the $LEAF Season is open and free to all players. To get started, users must connect their Solana wallet and link both their X and Discord accounts through the game’s interface. The game itself is accessible via web browser and features roguelite mechanics where players navigate 2D arenas and attempt to survive waves of enemies. As players defeat enemies, they collect coins that can be exchanged for weapons and items during their run.
Performance in these runs directly impacts the size of the airdrop allocation a player may receive. This play-to-airdrop format combines traditional gaming mechanics with blockchain-based incentives. The more time and effort players invest into both gameplay and community participation, the more likely they are to receive a meaningful share of the token rewards.

While active participation during the $LEAF Season is one path to earning tokens, The Backwoods team has also allocated portions of the airdrop to a broader range of community members. These include early supporters of the project, such as alpha testers, content creators, contributors, partnered projects, NFT communities, and holders of the Genesis Hero NFT collection. Detailed token distribution and snapshot information for each group is expected to be released through the game's official channels later in the season.
In addition, players who were active during the closed alpha phase can now claim their alpha points by connecting their Discord accounts on the official website. A dedicated section is also available for users with compromised wallets, allowing them to report the issue and secure their points. The date for the token generation event (TGE) has not been confirmed as of writing. Based on previous campaigns, the TGE was initially anticipated for Q3 or Q4 of 2024, though updated details are yet to be shared.
The Backwoods to Airdrop 150 Million Tokens
The $LEAF Season represents a continued effort by The Backwoods to grow its presence in the web3 gaming sector through community engagement and reward-based participation. By combining gameplay with token incentives, the campaign seeks to build long-term value for its players and supporters while reinforcing its position as an active and evolving project within the Solana ecosystem. Participants are encouraged to follow the game’s official social media channels for real-time updates on airdrop eligibility, reward claims, and upcoming announcements related to $LEAF token distribution.
