Tatsu has officially announced the discontinuation of development for Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates, a decision made after months of evaluation and feedback from players. While the game showed moments of promise across eight playtests, the development team ultimately determined that the product did not align with their goals for long-term sustainability or the quality expectations set by the community.
The decision comes with an acknowledgment of the support and anticipation shown by players and partners throughout the development process. Although the news may be disappointing for those who followed Lumina Fates closely, Tatsu emphasized that the experience gained during its development has shaped a renewed focus. The company is now turning its attention to new projects that better reflect its original values and strengths.
Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates Shutting Down
Tatsumeeko is described as a free-to-play (F2P) game built for both mobile and PC platforms. The game, which was initially in development on Immutable X (IMX) and Solana, introduced players to a rich, modern fantasy world featuring 2.5D environments and a robust "Arcana" system. This system offered millions of unique combat combinations, blending turn-based auto-combat with housing gameplay to create a deeply immersive experience.
Tatsu Works, the Singapore-based game studio, announced the migration of the life simulation RPG to the Ronin blockchain back in September 2024. The decision to migrate the game to Ronin, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-based blockchain, marked a notable step for Tatsu Works as they prepared to merge the worlds of web2 and web3 gaming.
Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates Shutting Down
Since its early days as a volunteer-led project in 2015, Tatsu has maintained a consistent philosophy: the most impactful games are those that exist within and grow alongside communities. This principle guided the development of early web3 products like Tatsu.GG and Tatsugotchi, which reached over 1.5 million Discord communities. When development on Lumina Fates began in 2022, the goal was to expand on this foundation and deliver an experience that offered greater quality and value. However, as development progressed, the increasing complexity and scope of the project led to compromises that moved it away from the core ideals that originally defined Tatsu’s work.
With this in mind, Tatsu is shifting direction to focus on a new project titled Project: Wander. Unlike Lumina Fates, this new initiative will not rely on external platforms or apps. Instead, it will be embedded directly into digital spaces where users already interact, such as Discord servers. This integration aims to create more immediate and socially engaging gameplay experiences. In parallel, Tatsu is moving away from long development timelines and adopting a more agile approach, prioritizing regular updates and transparent communication with the community.

Tatsu has reaffirmed its commitment to the community that has supported it since inception. The transition to this new phase of development will take existing users and assets into account. Holders of Tatsumeeko Meekolony Passes and Aethereal Parcels will see these assets gain new forms of utility in upcoming releases. Past participants in events tied to Lumina Fates will also have their involvement recognized as Tatsu moves forward.
As the next chapter unfolds, the company plans to provide additional details on how these elements will be integrated into future systems. A roadmap is expected to follow, offering a clearer picture of what players and community members can expect in the months ahead.
Tatsu’s new direction places a stronger emphasis on shared, socially-driven gameplay. The company has long believed that meaningful experiences arise not just from mechanics or design, but from the social environments in which games are played. By focusing on spontaneous interactions, community-created content, and the unique culture of each digital space, Tatsu aims to build experiences that adapt to the communities that use them.
Project: Wander is designed to reflect this approach. Rather than being a standalone title, it is envisioned as an evolving experience that responds to player behavior and feedback. The objective is to create environments where play and social interaction coexist, and where the personality of each server or group chat helps shape the direction of the game itself.

Development for Project: Wander is already in progress, with the first iterations expected to ship as early as possible. Tatsu plans to maintain a transparent development process, regularly engaging with players and adjusting direction based on feedback. The team acknowledges that while Lumina Fates was a learning experience, the shift to a new model offers the opportunity to return to the practices and values that have defined their past successes.
Tatsu concluded its announcement by thanking everyone who supported Lumina Fates. While the project has ended, the company sees this as a chance to focus fully on building games that are socially integrated, adaptable, and reflective of the communities that play them. Project: Wander marks the beginning of this renewed approach, one centered around interactive spaces and the people who bring them to life.
