In a significant move to help push blockchain gaming mainstream, Supervillain Labs has joined forces with investor Aptos Labs to launch a series of web3 games. This collaboration not only involves a substantial investment from Aptos Labs but also establishes a partnership aimed at creating more user-centric and efficient gaming experiences on a global scale.
Supervillain Labs, with a vision to bring players closer to game content through web3, has chosen to collaborate with Aptos Labs for the second time. Aptos Labs, in addition to their investment, will provide the foundation for Supervillain Labs' creations through the Aptos blockchain, emphasizing lowest-latency and highest-throughput capabilities.
This partnership focuses on utilizing Aptos' features, such as Parallel Execution and the Aptos Digital Asset Standard, to deliver an immersive and interoperable gaming experience. The Move programming language on Aptos ensures automatic fortification of Supervillain Labs' creations, allowing the game studio to concentrate on crafting engaging games.
Supervillain Labs sees Aptos blockchain's unmatched performance, low latency, and emphasis on user experience as pivotal factors. The collaboration aims to remove onboarding barriers, such as gas fees and prerequisite blockchain knowledge, ensuring an efficient and user-friendly gaming environment.
Supervillain Labs' first title, Idle RPG, hosted on Aptos, will feature Aptos-native NFT projects as characters, providing players with unique NFTs based on their personality types. The game assets will be on the Aptos blockchain, ensuring compatibility with future Supervillain releases.
Mo Shaikh, CEO of Aptos Labs, expressed, "Together with Supervillain Labs, we are building a future where gaming can be a vehicle for sharing social and economic value, as well as connecting people all over the world." Lucas Ko, CEO of Supervillain Labs, added, "We are confident that Aptos is the ideal technology for our games, expanding the scope of game fandom in web3."
A game demo of Supervillain: Idle RPG will be available on Aptos at the end of February. Supervillain Labs and Aptos Labs are also collaborating with Intella X, a web3 arm of gaming giant Neowiz, to bring better games to life.
Supervillain Labs has embraced a "supervillain persona" to counter skepticism towards web3 gaming, presenting it as a beacon of innovation and disruption. The objective is to elevate web3 gaming from a fringe element to a major competitor within the traditional gaming industry, gaining acceptance from billions of gamers worldwide.
With 20 people at Supervillain Labs and 140 people at Aptos Labs, this collaboration seeks to transform the gaming landscape through creativity, technical innovations, and the development of engaging products and fan communities. The Supervillain: Idle RPG game demo marks the beginning of a new era in web3 gaming, setting the stage for widespread acceptance and appreciation.
