Star Atlas is introducing new and thrilling features with the R2.1 update. One of the most exciting features is Ground Racing. This solo mode presents a time-trial contest where players can vie for the global leaderboard or simply relax and hone their racing skills. While it's solo for now, players can look forward to racing against other players in the upcoming R2.2 update.
The R2.1 update, teased a few weeks ago, expands the roster of flyable ships. Among the 49 flyable ships, six are nearly complete, including the Pearce X4, which has reached the Gold standard of completion. The other nearly complete ships include Opal Jet, Fimbul Lowbie, Fimbul Airbike, Pearce X6, Fimbul ECOS Unibomba, and Floydliner.
A new Testflight feature allows players to test-fly ships from all manufacturers. The lineup of available ships will cycle every few days. This feature kicks off on June 1st, with Pearce and VZUS (large size and below) taking the spotlight.
R2.1 also introduces the Photographer Career. This feature offers players a new way to showcase their elegant Star Atlas photos. Players can snap shots in the game, upload them to Discord, and potentially have their photo minted by Star Atlas to their wallet through themed contests.
In addition to these features, the R2.1 update also includes a surprise for players in the form of "Experimental Mode." This mode offers a sneak peek into the future of Star Atlas, presenting maps and characters that are still under development. Although details are scarce to maintain the element of surprise, this new mode promises to offer a tantalizing glimpse into what's to come in Star Atlas.
