Star Atlas, a renowned name in the space-themed web3 RPG realm, has rolled out substantial updates for its player community, unveiling the third iteration of its Ship Configuration system. This move aims to address the discrepancies players observed in earlier versions, including inconsistent ship descriptions, non-aligned component configurations, and pricing inconsistencies. The foundation of ship configuration in Star Atlas is built around the modifiable and static components that make each ship distinct.

The game has seen a paradigm shift in the way ship configurations operate since the GAO Phase 1 era. This evolution has been driven by the game's rapid development, with enhancements being constantly added to the ship's loadout rule sets. The Ship Config V2 was the first substantial upgrade, marking the introduction of new crew stations, components, and modules. However, the response from the Star Atlas community on V2 had its share of critiques, among them:

  1. Ship descriptions often misaligned with actual configurations.
  2. The Component Variance Table seemingly negated Manufacturer Bonuses.
  3. Origination pricing lacked coherence with manufacturer premiums and bonuses.

In response to the feedback:

  • The ship configurations were fine-tuned to better resonate with their descriptions in the Galactic Marketplace patch.
  • The component variance table has been eradicated. This change ensures that core component slots (excluding weapon slots) now adhere to the class of the ship, ranging from Tier 0 to Tier 5.
  • Most manufacturer bonuses now apply directly to the component in question, rather than the ship. However, a unique twist added is the possibility of gaining additional bonuses if the component matches the ship's manufacturer.

All ships purchased from the GAO or procured from secondary markets will, by default, be equipped with up to Tier 3 core components. Moreover, any oversized core components will enjoy a +1 class boost.

When discussing origination pricing and V2 ship configurations, Star Atlas has endeavored to level the playing field. Specific ships, previously seen as lesser than their counterparts, are now receiving buffs in the form of upgraded components.

Looking ahead, Star Atlas's ship pricing strategy remains largely unchanged since the introduction of V2 configurations. Yet, the actual pricing is expected to display greater uniformity within individual ship classes. The price determination is straightforward, taking into account a ship's baseline price and its manufacturer premium or discount.

In conclusion, with its Ship Configuration V3, Star Atlas is geared up to provide an unparalleled space exploration experience for its users, addressing past concerns and laying the foundation for an exciting future.
